for those who don't mind top-down RPGs (like Baldur's gate or Diablo) here's one I can heartily recommend :
a Bard's Tale
it dates back to 2005
gameplay is actually quite generic (hack'n'slash with the usual RPG stats) and the graphics are ok (they were standard for its time) but its uniqueness lies in the dialogue & voice acting which is top notch. it features Tony Jay - the same man who voices the Elder God in Legacy of Kain series - as the narrator and Cary Elwes as the "hero". these two provide most of the dialogue throughout the game but even the NPCs are perfectly done with the appropriate accents (story's set in a mythical version of medieval Scotland - I think)
it is actually a spoof of the genre. the "hero" himself (the bard) is more of an anti-hero (he's only out to serve himself not save the world) in fact he's the typical cynical ******* just like we like 'em. during quests you're given 2 dialogue options when talking to NPCs ('snarky' and 'nice') and as can be expected being nice doesn't always yield the best result, depending on the npc (nor is it as fun -). tbh I found myself reloading savegames just to see how different dialogue branches played out, the dialogue is that good the game routinely breaks the 4th wall (the bickering between the narrator & the bard alone is worth playing the game)
if you're a fan of both RPGs and Monty Python, this game's for you

Yummy bubblegum!
Question. Wasn't Heavenly Sword supposed to be released on PC? Has it been already and I'm just not in the loop?
Anyone played Assassins Creed?
i used to do it occasionally on my PS2, not a lot of people realise you can do it. infact i have a wireless mouse/keyboard on order to go with my ps3
i play that occasionally, it's one of the few games i can go back to and enjoy on my very obsolete pc...

I'm amused/ashamed to say I'm an EVE Online addict, seeing as I have three accounts and bought a second monitor for my computer just so I could run two accounts simultaneously.
I also play: Crysis/Crysis Warhead, Command and Conquer 3/Kane's Wrath, Gears of War, and Doom 3.
That's one of my major qualms with the game. It's super repetitive. And while some may like the slow and steady, secret ninja assassin type of gameplay, I'm finding it tiresome. But I'll finish it just because I started it.
However another thing that's getting on my nerves is the freaking "awareness" monitor.
You're right, it's not. Blast. I've heard both bad and good things about that one and had wanted to play it eventually. Oh well. And heavenly sowrd is not PC yet I don't think one is planed either

Stupid Portal.
"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past."

Stupid posters-who-think-they're-soooooooooooooooo-clever.
I'm this close to shooting myself with the portal device. Stupid physics engine. Stupid "momentum is conserved between portals". The momentum is not taking me where I want to go!!!!!!!!!
here's a bad thing : it's supposed to be short. I mean ultra-short. in the sense, it's not a game it's less than an expansion :/
brilliant "momentum should be conserved", yeah. easiest game btw (finished it in a afternoon (ok so I finished it by nightfall))
which level are you stuck at ?
So I've heard. It's...what?...7 hours of gameplay?
18. I've played for a grand total of 2 hours now, 30 minutes of which I've spent on this level.brilliant momentum should be conserved, yeah. easiest game btw (finished it in a afternoon (ok so I finished it by nightfall))

It's not hard. My "person" just isn't doing what I want her to be doing.
that sounds more like Republic Commando (I played that on PC & a friend of mine also played it on console (he owns several consoles) and called it an "expansion", and he also played Heavenly Sword & said it was noticeably shorter -)
can't remember the levels by #18. I've played for a grand total of 2 hours now, 30 minutes of which I've spent on this level.

is this level still in the training part ?
I have decided that the best part about Portal is the song at the end.
Priceless.
Now to get my hands on the Portal:2 demo.
