303/304 Ship Names

Okay, so I was wondering, the Stargate program is an international program, right? So why are the Battle cruisers USS? (or RFS)

For instance, shouldn't the:

USS Prometheus
USS Deadelus
USS Oddessy
and
RFS Korelav,

be something like:

SCS Prometheus
SCS Deadelus
SCS Oddessy
and
SCS Korelav;

for something along the lines of 'Stargate Command Ship'?

Or even:

ESS Prometheus
ESS Deadelus
ESS Oddessy
and
ESS Korelav;

for 'Earth Star Ship', or 'Earth Space Ship'?

I think so far they have only given a USS for Oddessy which is CLEARLY on the pouches, Promethus Never had A USS only the Name, which also applies to the Deadelus and i think the Korolov Never had a pouch but could be wrong, I wonder if we will see: IF YOU DON'T WANT INFO ON FIRST STRIKE DO NOT OPEN!!!!!

I think it's a bit of a sticky situation. While the Stargate is controlled by the US military (but owned by the Russians), and is partly funded by them, the IOA have the main say as they provide the most funding. The same applies to Atlantis, only with the IOA providing all the funding. The US military builds the BC-304's out of their own pocket. So they are owned and operated by the US military, not the IOA. Therefore they wouldn't have earth identification, just US identification. The only reason the Russians got one was because they blackmailed the US by threatening to take the Stargate away from them.

They are "called"...
United States Air Force Vessel Deadalus
...Odyssey
...Apollo

No idea why they are handled this way because I believe that U.S.S. stands for "United States Ship" and they ARE United States ships...
