Just after The Master ages The Doctor he said 'the paradox machine has been running for 2 minutes'. my theory is that this will create a paradoxical timeline where all the events cease to exist once the machine is turned off/ destroyed. the paradox machine needs the power of the time vortex to operate and stop it from collapsing in on itself.

Of course the most important question is what is the paradox that the paradox machine is creating?
This just reinforces my belief that (not official spoilers, but speculation):
    Spoiler:
the Toclaphane are the humans who went to Utopia. If the humans are pulled from the future (as the Toclaphane) and start "decimating" (have to agree with Madeline_W on the original use of that word ) their ancestors then it's a paradox that only this paradox machine can maintain. I also suspect Pharaoh Hamenthotep is right in that when they eventually shut down the machine, everything will revert back to 08:02. As much as I hate the old "Reset Button" plot device, that's the only way I see this storyline resolving itself.

Apparently, I'm the only one that seems to recall that somehow she's linked with the toclafane. She acted as though she was one at some points. I'm thinking it's rather likely she's not exactly human, either.

This is one instance where the "reset button" would be literal. I think I can live with that much more easily than having terrible things happen that have no effect on anything by the next ep.

I just rewatched TSoD for the second (third?) time, and every time I'm more taken with just how gorgeous a woman she is. Could be just that I'm a sucker for a girl with an accent, but she is just stunning.

Now that I've got that little hormonal outburst out of the way...

Second week in a row where we've had a terrific cliffhanger...awesome. I was a little disappointed at the ease of escape from the end of 'Utopia' but after the episode got rolling I didn't care so much anymore, it was that good. There was so much about this episode that was good, it's hard to separate out the bad.

Loved this ep it was fantastic and had a great cliffhanger at thye end. I also enjoyed Simm's master, great character. Was also good to see the Torchwood reference, along with the Torchwood music being used.

Ok, this is spooky... I was watching my Torchwood DVDs, specifically ep. 4 "Cyberwoman".

I am willing to swear on a stack of bibles, in any court you'd care to nominate, that the drumbeats made an appearance. Right at the very end when Ianto comes back to the Hub the day after Lisa/Cyberwoman is killed.

Listen carefully. It's there, I'm sure of it...

The Master is trying to "outdo" the Doctor.
    Spoiler:

    1) He stole his Tardis. Finally. The Master has had designs on the Doctor's TARDIS for a long, long time. (And the Doctor takes personal pride when he sabotages The Master's Tardis.)

    2) The Master called Lucy "his companion". Not only is she devoted but they are married-- something The Doctor has never done (showing that level of commitment to his companion.)

    3) "Mine's bigger..." and by that I mean, not just a Sonic Screwdriver... a LAZER screwdriver. The Doctor has never aged someone deliberately with his sonic screwdriver...

    4) The Master is decimating the population of Doctor's favorite planet-- and the Doctor has to just stand there and watch. (Well, we get a whole episode to solve that one...)

    5) That final scene with The Master and The Doctor felt like he was saying, "Look, my final trophy..." It had the same attitude of a fisherman displaying the huge fish that he just caught. I mean, he had mentioned earlier that he was going to regenerate into a younger man-- didn't he say something like "It's not fair that you are young and I am old??" (I must be dreaming...)

I don't believe there were six billion people in that rocket to Utopia. I also don't believe there were six billion Time Lords. But there are six billion Toclafane. And what are the "other" Toclafane going to do if only one-in-ten Toclafane are killers??? (That's what decimate means...)

Favorite Line: "I can just kill him again later." (OK I need to see this episode again to get the line correct. You know which line I mean.)

The Toklafane are the humans from Utopia in my opinion. My reasons for this:

    1. Utopia actually means 'no place', so the humans were not actually going anywhere to escape the end of the universe. But if they not going to a place perhaps they are going to a 'when'.

    2. The 'if I told you, your hearts would break' line of the Master's. What would break the Doctor's heart more than to see the race that he cares for almost as much as his own become a bunch of dalek-like killers.

    3. The paradox machine and the cloister bell. The cloister bell only goes off during great emergencies. An ontologol (sp) paradox fits the bill nicely to cover both items. The paradox machine to allow the descendants of humanity to kill their ancestors and the cloister bell to sound the alarm to the violation of time and space.

Anyway just my two pence. I could be amazingly right or completely off. Either way the next episode is not going to be missed.

I was pretty sure that the cloister bell was going off because of the rape and violations the Master did to the poor girl. You'd be screaming too if someone were to try to cannibalize you and you were a living machine like the Tardis.

and... where can I submit my fan story of the Doctor? I got one of two done.

www.fanfiction.net is a good choice. But I have to warn you, the interface for uploading stories isn't exactly what you'd call "user friendly".

Anyway, the tapping - tappity-tap, tappity-tap. Is it just me, or does it also spell out the letter V in Morse code?

    V is ...-
    H is ....

I think H is more likely - as the first letter of "HELP!!!!!"

I did think of that but then it seems to me it is still more about the greater danger to The Doctor, and (in this case) the Earth and maybe the Universe.

Personally I can go with either and/or.

Hmmm... I dunno, I'm still going with V, cos the "accent" of the tapping seems to be on the last one.

    Tappity-TAP, tappity-TAP.

I don't have any problems with ff.net and their uploading, they've done a lot of 'Under the Bonnet' work on their server and it's a lot better

Well, I'll take your word for that RG. You're the expert, considering how many stories you've posted on ff.net, while I have but a single solitary one on the site.
