This thread is officially taking a time out. I know other mods have been in here, counseling on image sizes, deleting dozens/hundreds of posts....but right after the last visit members are right back to posting meg large gifs, pictures that are over 1000 pixels wide, .png files that are hundreds of kilobytes.

Frankly we're tired of trying to talk and being ignored. SInce the 13th, so 10 days, you posted and I deleted 73 separate rule breaking posts. Which tells me you guys aren't even trying.

this thread will reopen Monday. And if you guys haven't learned your lesson to learn to downsize photos, then we'll be looking at putting individual members on moderation and disallowing them from posting ANY pics anywhere on this forum.

Just an update, and I'll be responding to PM's in a minute. I went through and found some that didn't delete last night, but there are two members of this thread, one with almost 20 posts, another with over 60 posts with too large photos, and then one person with one.

We don't want to shut down a thread permanently.

BUT

Something has to give. There are people that can't even participate in a thread because of all the oversized pics. And I'm not even going to go into the massive amounts of bandwidth we're going through.

Since we're reluctant to totally shut down a thread two options we've discussed is to either put the worst offenders on moderation, every single post they make must be cleared by the mods, or we put certain thunk threads - ones that continually and massively break the rules - on a 'links only' rule.

NO decisions have been made and I'll be responding to PM's here in a bit.

the main reason for mentioning this in public, it's going to effect you all.

I'm opening your thread back up. What I ask you guys is to help each other. If you see an image that is too big, give your threadmate a friendly warning. If you're not comfortable doing that, report the post. Your report will be kept totally anonymous. Your threadmates will never know who reported it.

What you're doing isn't 'ratting out a friend', you're helping to keep your thread open and welcoming to all by keeping it from being bogged down with large images.

How to check if an image is too big? Right click on it and choose 'properties' or 'image info' and you'll see how big it is.

What are the limits?
no more than 700 pixels wide and a file size of 100k or less.

I thank everyone for trying and for all the work they've done.
