I'm 34 and I think fairy tales are an essential part of human existence. Fairy tales will always be part of humanity's collective consciousness. They teach both children and adults that there are real monsters in the world and that we have to fight them. These monsters don't have lots of teeth and creep about in the dark. These monsters are things like self-doubt, and the lie that somehow evil is more powerful than things like innocence, love, and the desire to be better and nobler than what you were before.

Random fact about me: I learned to play a new game tonight, at a party held by a branch of the historical recreation group I belong to. Well, that is, the game was new to me. It was actually a medieval Welsh board game called gwyddbwyll, (similar to chess, but not to be confused with it, which is easy to do as I understand the name gwyddbwyll is now used to refer to chess itself in Welsh). I recently described this game in my current fanfic, so I was really excited to encounter it at the party. Synchronicity FTW!
Bonus: I managed to win, the very first time I played it.
