Also, if those Jaffa are loyal to the Ori, why aren't they wearing something closer to the Ori armor or have Ori staff weapons?

Why would the Ori give them their weapons and other equipment??I wouldn't do it.Those jaffas have their own weapons. And I don't trust jaffas. It's possible the Ori don't trust them
Tealc's armour in 'Talion' looked alot like the kind of armour Bra'tac usually dons, maybe he either just wore something of bra'tac or Tealc's now considered a master jaffa.
Perhaps this is due to the budget cuts. The antagonist's armor looks like a scaled down Goa'uld armor... or something they'd give to the lowest rank foot soldier. I dunno.

It just kinda felt cheap to me. :|
it also explains why Sodan jaffas are using shorter staff weapons

If it were due to budget cuts he'd just wear the same armor all the other Jaffa wear and probably have a ton of those custumes around.
I think this armor is a lot lighter, and alot more versatile.
maybe it was not intended as armour, but more of an everyday type of clothing. he was the leader of a large group of jaffa, so he probably wouldn't of worn the same armour as them. it also makes him stand out form the other jaffa, and makes him more of an individual character, rather than another normal jaffa.
I think the real reason for that funky armor was simply to save on costuming. The show is almost over, instead of investing in a new costume this late in the series, it's cheaper and easier to recycle the old costumes, putting them together to make it "look" new. Although in the end it just looked like crap.
Oh well. I don't really watch the show for it's outstanding costume designs, it's the stories that really matter to me anyway.

Truthfully, I agree with that were Arkad was concerned.
As for Teal'c later in the episode, I think it was just a variation on the normal Jaffa armour. No big deal really.
