Outages: 6th / 7th Feb

Dunno what happened, but the web-facing server has gone crazy over the past 36 hours.

We've changed a few things on the server, however it has failed to come back up, so we've moved over to our DR server.

Hopefully things should be resolved now. Please let me know if you spot any problems.

There was a huge attack on the internet this week. I tried to come here on the sixth and then found out about the attack and thought maybe that was why I couldn't get to the forum.

Several major services were affected by the internet outages on the 6th and 7th from what i heard. It was difficult for me to connect to a lot of places on the net during those two days.

Yeah, me too. This was definitely not the only place affected.

I hard about it today on NPR. The major routing servers, a dozen of them or so were attacked by millions of comps. Very sophisticated coordinated attack from what I heard. Goodness knows what would have happened if they had succeeded.

The attack you guys are talking about has nothing to do with our outages. That was an attack on the ".org" domain servers, it didnt affect gateworld, or any other sites that i host. It also seemed to have a very limited affect to the .org registry.

i've been getting a "server is busy at the moment" message since last night into today.

OMG is everyone okay!?!?!? Gateworld went off and I feared that it exploded!!!!! Is anyone hurt?
