At least they did show that the Jaffa staff weapon isn't a very good weapon of war, their side arms are meant for stunning whilst their training is based around close and combat.
Over all if your armed with an inaccurate weapon, your trained to close and kill you really can't blame them for being shoot down.

Ha, nice answer! Its like in Star Trek battles where other ships blow up with one phaser blast and the protagonist's shields are always holding up and they are not destroyed even when they lose their shields.

The sheild effect applies to varying degrees with Jaffa armour. A prime example is where Teal'c stood with his back to the hail of bullets in COTG using his armoured body to protect the hapless Sergeant he was kidnapping. Other Jaffa fall in the same hail of bullets!

Of course it was down to the 'Principle of Evil Markmanship' that the outnumbered SGC personnel survived for so long before reinforcements arrived!

sg1 always come back but that says they are not invincible, like the many other shows that have heroes who never die
