I have 100% pure tea tree oil but only use it for when I'm having a cold and/or need a facial steam (which I rarely do because I just can't sit still doing nothing for so long). Originally I'd bought it because it's supposed to help against zits but other than burning and disinfecting it wasn't really effective. Didn't get the result I was expecting (after reading about it) and now I don't really need it anymore, either.

I also have aloe vera gel with tea tree oil in it, which I used a few times for dry skin (first just aloe vera gel and later on this one) and while it burns a bit (more like tingling) it's not all that effective either. It helps temporarily but you have to keep using it all the time until it's not working at all and your skin looks worse than when you began. Now I just use a perfume-less cream for the occasional dry skin patches or my aloe vera facial cream. The aloe vera gel with tea tree oil is now used after shaving my legs and it helps prevent those tiny red spots I often get.
*shrug*....yeah....just figured I'd throw it out there as a suggestion...I do know that for me it does seem to help scalp itch and it does make a dandy aftershave.....

http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2012/...eating-eczema/ - according to this drinking oolong tea can be helpful

there are also some comments from other people who've tried other remedies, such as turmeric supplements

I use pure aloe vera cream for cuts and burns, and they always heal quite fast and there's no scarring.

When on vacation in the Virgin Islands once, I was attempting to remove the radiator cap on a car we rented, and it literally blew off in my hand, shooting scalding water all over my hand. Since we were right next to a large aloe vera plant, my sister broke off a large chunk of the plant and smeared the gel all over my hand. Not only was there very little pain after that, but also no scarring or blistering.

I keep a jar of pure aloe vera cream around at all times for cuts and scrapes. Luckily, I've never had to experience a radiator cap blowing off in my hand again.

Horrible storms throughout the mid-Atlantic this weekend. I'm without power (hanging out with a friend who's neighborhood didn't loose power) and may not be restored for days. Ugh!!!!!!

We had aloe vera plants in our yard while growing up. Whenever we were sunburned, we'd do the same-go break off a leaf and smear the sap all over. Worked great!

Sorry to hear that! We in south Texas are having thunderstorms. Apparently, the family is not allowing me to plan anymore weekend exursions. I took my husband to Palo Alto National Battlefield last weekend and we got caught out on the field in a torrential downpour. Today we drove out to South Padre Island for some fun in the sand and surf, but after being there an hour, a HUGE thunderstorm rolled in. My family is convinced I'm cursed.

Okay shippers, I kind of need your help concerning a medical issue I have.

Since the age of 15 I've been suffering from this really bad type of atopic eczema. It started with a tiny little spot and in the mean time has spread out all over my body. I've been going to several dermatologists but none of them seems to be able to stabilize my condition. My skin gets so dry that sometimes it just cracks open. It's extremely itchy and that contributes to the vicious cycle I find myself in. Itchiness causes scratching and scratching aggravates the eczema. At the moment it's so bad that even taking a bath or shower feels like hell. I've got several wounds (some of them even oozing) and it hurts a lot.

I'm really at my wits' end and I've tried heaps of things (several creams, salt in the bath, etc) in the past but nothing seems to work. So I'm kind of hoping there's someone out there who might be familiar with the condition and can help me in fighting this thing. All the scratching makes me feel really uncomfortable and let's say that at the moment I find myself... well... the least attractive.

So please help me if you can, I'd be forever grateful if I finally could manage to combat this thing.

    Thanks
I know what you're talking about, I have neurodermatitis (or atopic eczema as it is called nowadays). When it's really bad I scratch the backs of my hands and my forearms untill they look like a bloody mess.
For me it's mostly allergy based, I'm allergic to some kinds of food (cocoa, lemon fruits, strawberries...), to some pollen and some preservatives in cosmetics. Sometimes it's really annoying, especially the food thing. And sometimes it just starts without reason, although stress and anger can make it worse. But I think it's a little better since I started drinking lactose-free milk. I know that lactose intolerance is not an allergy, but I don't question it when it helps.

In winter when it's cold outside and my skin is really dry (drier than the usual dry) I use ointment with evening primrose oil(sorry, don't know if the translation is right, the Latin name is Oenothera biennis), don't know if available in your part of the world. In general I take good care of my skin, but I found out that one of the cheapest skin creams is the best for me. It took me some time to find all these things out, sometimes I was very desperate when nothing seemed to help. And people told me: 'Just don't scratch!'

I hope you find something to help you, I know how annoying that thing is

Skin conditions suck. They really do and I've never really come across anything particularly useful unfortunately.

    To change the subject completely...

How are everyone's contributions for Ship Day coming along? My "You know you're a S/J shipper when..." postcards are going quite well, I have lots of ideas, but I'm really struggling with a ficlet I'm trying to write. My last fic was written in the space of an evening with minimal adjustments pre-posting. But this fic just won't come, I'm not quite sure why. It's a little more ambitious than I usually write so maybe I'm just a little scared of it. Does anyone have any tips for aiding writers' block??

There's always RL to contend with as well. Humph.

Feeding the muse chocolate always seems to help here. Although lately Snowy has been rather... absent. *glares*

I hope he was just preoccupied with the computer troubles I've been experiencing but I'm still stuck at the next chapter for TJP...

I will have to keep a close eye on Snowy because my last muse made a run for it last summer, claiming it was going on vacation only to never return again. Can't have history repeating itself.

    Down the Rabbit Hole (M-rated):
A malfunctioning quantum mirror causes an explosion and catches Major Samantha Carter unaware. When she comes to she discovers she has not only ended up on the wrong side of the mirror, but also the law! Forced to live as her counterpart, she tries to find a way home. Can she trust her CO's alternate or does he have a plan of his own?
    -> Chapter 3 is up!

My S/J fics can be found on FFnet and AO3.

I was like that when I first started writing for SG (not that you have only just started), because I wasn't sure I would ever do the SG world justice, and it was so...huge...with so many potential stories. I found that focusing on one portion of the SG world helped, and my fic didn't overwhelm me. I'm not sure how I deal with writers block. Sometimes it helps to step back from a story. I once took a 30 day writing sabbatical...by the end of that 30 days (nightmare) I ended up writing so much that my wrist had to be braced because I pulled something LOL

LOL. I use sedatives on my muse. She never shuts up. If anyone will be running away or "going out to get some milk" it will be me. My muse has much more energy than I do, and I think she may possibly be an escapee from some shipper prison, hopped up on SJ drugs (I think it was the cake), and full of ideas that she was forced to repress. In other words...my muse is crazy lol

the "drugs" in question were probably full of ShipNana's famous shipper cookies.....

Ugh. Just got power back. And my internet (which is reliant on electricity, apparently). This weekend was a bad one for the Mid-Atlantic. The worst part about it was the fact that I had two days without power for a freaking fifteen minute windstorm. WTH???

On the plus side, the enforced break from technology gave me time to read two books (both of which were fantastically awesome-- first one was Barque of Heaven. Excellent choice, for the record) and I now have some awesome experiences of playing Munchkin by lantern light. Kewl.

All in all, an interesting taste of what life would be like in a techno-pocalyptic world.

Don't ask me how in the world my mind works. Because, quite frankly, I have no idea...

My power went out today for 2 hours, but oddly enough, I barely noticed lol. My net was out as well, but that's the great thing about having a mobile phone with internet capability lol I feel your pain though, I wouldn't be too fond of the idea of power outtage for longer than a few hours. Although, I do like the idea of candles and reading (although that would destroy my eye sight more than it already is haha)

Glad you have your power back. I know someone in Ohio who has been without power for 2 days now, and is still expecting it to be out. A few years ago, we were hit with Hurricane Dolly and I was out of power for a week! During summer with no breeze, it was autrocious! So I can really empathize on the no power thing.
