Default Final Fantasy Friendly Discussion Thread

I've only played VII, VIII, IX, X and X-2. My personal favourite is Final Fantasy X though because Auron is so kick ass and so's Jecht lol

I've only ever completed X and X-2 out of all of them (my PSOne broke, dont hurt me!) I know that one of my brothers thinks that VIII is the best, where as another brother likes IX. Hmmmm...Anyways, this thread is basically for friendly discussion about anything Final Fantasy, that might include: Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy the movie, the movie after VII.....um...Hmmmm.....oh yeah, the Gameboy games! But mainly we want to talk about the games:

    Final Fantasy
    Final Fantasy II
    Final Fantasy III
    Final Fantasy IV
    Final Fantasy V
    Final Fantasy VI
    Final Fantasy VII
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Final Fantasy IX
    Final Fantasy X
    Final Fantasy XI
    Final Fantasy XII
    Final Fantasy XIII???

And anymore that have been made...My hands hurt now....

So what do you guys think of the games?

Final Fantasy is the ULTIMATE RPG series...I have to say FFVII would be the best, I mean, Vincent...nuff said. That said FFIX comes close. I also greatly enjoyed FFX up until
    Spoiler:
You find out Tidas is a dream...and then the final boss, Yu Yevon...gimmie a break, 1 quick-hit from Auron and what happens? *overkill*...
But, regardless of this, it still provides great entertainment and the sphere system allows for much replayability.

Sheppard: "Y’know, we’ve been having these conversations for a couple of weeks now, and I don’t even know your name. You guys do have names, right? Let me guess...Steve?"
Wraith: "I am your death. That is all you need to know."
    Sheppard: "I prefer Steve."

I joined the FF fandom with VII really....and even then, I only got around to buying it a year or two ago (I never had a PSX, then got a PS2).

Still haven't finished it, but that's just been a matter of time constraints, not boredom. Absolutely fantastic game, I've loved every second of it. Even the time I accidentally picked a fight with Emerald Weapon without realizing what it was!

On the strength of 7 alone, I bought 8, 10, 10-2, 12 (collector's ed. box )and I just picked up 9 on ebay the other day. Of these others the only one I've cracked into is X...and while the intro video is ubercool and the setting is fantastic, I've found I'm really not enjoying it as much as VII. Maybe it'll get better, I've only gotten as far as having to play blitzball so I know I'm not very far into it. I think I may even just forget about it for a while, polish off VII and then work my way through the titles successively.

Oh, and some quick thoughts on the films...

The Spirits Within was lame....really, really lame. Not only did it lack the epic grandeur which has come to characterize the Final Fantasy name, but frankly it just really wasn't all that interesting. I can think of maybe two memorable scenes from the whole movie, apart from that it was a massive snoozefest. No wonder Square Pictures went bankrupt.

Like I just finished saying in my games post though, I haven't finished FFVII yet so I've been avoiding Advent Children and all possible spoilers for it like the plague

I dont realy enjoy FF that much...

the last FF game I enjoyed was 6...

the only FF games I like are

    FF3
    FF5
    FF6

and thats it...(could careless for the rest honestly except a few characters which I would rather have had put into a GOOD game IMO)

however I love Vivi(who is one of my fav video game characters to date), Yuffie(I have a thing for cute ninja girls), Auron and Balthier(do I need to explain) despite the fact I hate the games they are in

Vivi was kickass and I just loved his part of the plotline and I found myself completing the game just to find out what happens to the cute little bugger

    Ditto for Yuffie...

and Auron and Balthier just kick ass

and in all honesty I would rather play SMT:Nocturne or any Tales game over a ff game

I've played and completed VII, VIII, IX, X & X-2. My favourite is VII closely followed by X, and i will definitely be getting XII when they bother to release it in the UK.

Well, down here in Aus we don't get FFXII until next year sometime...quite ridiculous really...I must also agree that Vivi is one of the greatest Final Fantasy characters, second only to Vincent. Plus, you should get around to finishing FFVII as it has, IMO, the best ending. The ending of FFX was kinda annoying, don't get mestarted on FFVIII, sure, the game play is fine, don't have any major problems with it, but that ending bored me to no end... I can't remember the ending to FFX-2, even though I spent exhaustive amounts of time getting those ridiculous looking and uber dress spheres...

most FF games are to easy -_-

FF7-10 included ((FF11 is a MMORPG and doesnt count)

even the overpraised FFtactics is to damn easy and that game is ment to be a stratergy rpg

FFtactics is basiclyTactics Ogre without the tactics and stratergy involved

FF(excluding optional boss's aside as those are ment to be super hard...) hasnt been hard since FF5...

and FF10-2 was trash except for the battle system(why couldent they have used this battle system in FF9...I would have liked it alot more)

FFVII hands down. Easily the greatest game ever made. I spent so long trying to beat Ruby and Emerald weapons, but it was so worth it. I loved everything about that game. I'm gonna have to play it again in the next few years just... because!

The only other one that grabbed my attention was VIII but i grew weary of drawing magic after a while. The story was good and i loved the Lionheart... symbol and the move.

I didnt like 7 because of the crap characters(excluding Yuffie as shes a cute ninja girl) and plotline but thats just my opinion oh and the character graphics out side of battle made my eyes bleed

the art direction looks horrid as well:sephy not only was a boring villan he looks like a manwhore(though atleast he wasnt wearing a thong like Kuja...but atleast Kuja had personality)

though it gets points for having Cloud cross dress, along with being able to go on a date with Barret and having sephy kill off the annoying healer girl you wish to die in every game

and I didnt like FF9 either because I only liked Vivi and the chocobo sidequest(how can you not love chocobos)

thankgod they didnt nerf the difficulty in the FF3 remake like they did with the GBA ports of FF1+2 and FF4

*waits for FF3 to come out later this month*

*looks at the characters in battle* they look fine to me no complaints here

*looks at the characters out of battle* why do they look like lego characters -_-

I thought the out of battle character models looked ugly when the game 1st came out and I think they look even worse now

and BTW the Ps1 has some gorgeous looking games on it *cougth Tales of Eternia and Valkyrie Profile cougth*

    EDIT:
The only other one that grabbed my attention was VIII but i grew weary of drawing magic after a while. The story was good and i loved the Lionheart... symbol and the move.
people have found out how to get the Lionheart gunblade on the 1st disk without cheating :X
the move(and gunblade design) kicked ass though

I think that the chocobo sidequest in FFIX was the perfect chocobo system, esp when you could get a gold chocobo with only the blue narciss But, what I'm still hopeful for is a PS3 remake of FFVII...Even though square has denied it...

Not only that but he was a colourful, shiny beachball of d00m XD...One who I am yet to defeat because every time in the last year or so when I have started replaying FFIX I keep getting side tracked and stop playing.
