    - Daniel has been getting very upset with the ascended ancients, noting how they punish any of their number who would try to take action in what is happening.
    - A lot of the tests merlin uses a lot of overtones tied to Christianity and the aurthurian legend... in short, they have in fact used religion in a similar fashion to what the Ori do.
    - Daniel did think that he could take the stone, but the look on his face when his hand went through it looked a lot like surprise.

My thought are what if Daniel has been beginning to think that the Ori are only trying to get rid of the ancients before in fact doing all they promised? Or that the ancients aren't as good as they had thought (sort of like the realization that the Vorlons were every bit as harmful tho the Galaxy as the Shadows in Babylon Five).
    Nice theory, however...
Just like in B5, when they realised the Vorlons aren't the good guys they thought they were, they didn't join the Shadows. They turned to fighting both sides. Even if the Ancients aren't as good as they thought - and right now I don't think Daniel thinks of them as so good,a s you've mentioned he's become quite pissed off and disillusioned with them - or even if the Ori aren't the bad guys they seem to be, he still disagrees with the way they're taking over the galaxy - that alone would prevent him from ever workign with the Orii (Shroud spoilers)
    Spoiler:
All the more reason why his tranformatino in the second half is interestnig, the "why" issue.

As for the stone, having watched the AOL preview for part 2
    Spoiler:
I think it was a decoy, a mechanism to onset the dragon, that in turn guards the library of knowledge
. However, I do like the whole "Daniel isn't pure of spirit" angle. He's definitely had some tarnish on his soul since he last ascendecd... Unfortunately, I don't think that's soemthing they'd pursue.
Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Daniel prolly gets kidnapped by evil kid and turned into a prior, we know that he turns up as one in one of the next episodes

So how do they challenge the dragon, I bet they fire their weapons on the damn thing, with the same "hologram" effect as they did firing on the knight. Ba'al said he holds the key to defeating the dragon, but does he really? He's a Goa'uld after all...
How cool would it be if the Baals' Goa'uld took the Dragon as a Host. lol that would be crazy.

Man i love the Dragon spin. I always wonder why only the gods of mythology? why could the mythological creatures be alien animals. now my dream has come true. (I hope its not a hologram)

Nice episode, Adria was excellent, unfortunately the whole thing was very predictable though unfortunately.

    - The cliffhanger was one of the best SG-1 have had. Got a very Knightmare vibe from it (UK fans should understand) which is a good thing in my books!
    - The CG dragon was seriously dodgy though.

Pretty good, I'd almost lost hope of actually seeing a GOOD SG-1 episode this season with the exception of The Pegasus Project and the one with the Dakara weapon (I forget the name).

Though please god, can they build another village set.

    OK...

1, What the frack is a dragon of any form doing in the SG universe? No idea.

    2. Didn't see that Adria = Orsic, I was expecting her to turn up elsewhere.

    3. Definately liked the team dynamic.

Overall, better than Company of Thieves but The Pegasus Project still beats it.

Loved this ep..first time in ages I will watch for a second time. I was particularly intrigued by Daniel not being able to access the object of the quest. He does have a dark side that has grown recently. I'm glad really because he was getting a bit too good to be true. I am SO glad that I don't have to wait 6 months for the sequel . That is just plain mean!

wow that episode was great loved the cliffhangar ,what r they going to do?
bad point was though i was predicting what would happen with my brother and when they got to the maze it was obvious they would throw a rock or something in there path (even though i though they would use sand ) same with the chest but oh well as it was a good ep ,

I live in the UK and have just seen the episode on dec 20th and fortunately for us the second part is on on the 3rd of jan.

I thought the episode was very good and was a perfect cliffhanger to keep viewers in the US waiting 6 months.

Can't wait for the second part

This was a great episode!! There where many fun little momnets along with some great term stuff

The start was fun; old Daniel working overtime again and Teal'c and Cameron coming by to check up on him. Poor Cameron didn't want to get sucked into some boring talk about things he doesn't understand with Daniel so he tried to leave right away. But Teal'c stops him but did look just as unhappy that they had been sucked into talking about something they either don't understand and/or find boring. That was a cute little scene. Also for the life of me I couldn't understand what Cam was saying when he told Daniel they where going out. I found a transcript and the word was "Szechwan" whihc means (I looked it up) "A populous province of south central China" So they where going out for Chine Food?

LOL at the green eye mask Vala was wearing, somehow it felt so right for her character. She was so funny when she came running into Daniel's office to tell him about her dream. As soon as she said "it came to me in a dream". I knew somethign was up but I thought maybe it was from a ascended being on the our side yet trying to "let everyone think they figured it out for themselves" like I'm pretty sure Daniel planted the idea in Teal'c mind or at least lead him towards it in season 6. Anyway Vala putting her head on Sam's arm to sleep was cute

Also the term looks great in their robes, Cameron was on fire in that red color. <- Sorry competely superficial but I can't help myself. I liked the barkeeper she was great and I felt like there was a little something going with Cameron there; like maybe if thing where different there'd be soem finting going on btw Vala's plant o steal the map was just way to funny

I knew once the old man went with them it was Adria. I've seen her inthe trailers for this episode so I knew she was going to end up with them somehow. The talk in the woods was really the thing that made me think he was really Adria.

The maze was fun, and yes the frozen actors where moving but man how hard would it be to stand there like that and we don't know how many takes it took so I'm not holding it against them. As soon as Sam said time distortion field I thought pick up some sand and throw it around to see the path. By the time Sam throw the first rock I was ready to throw a rock at the t.v myself becuase it didn't happen sooner lol. stilll think she should have throw sand around to make sure but I think CGI wise that be hard. I laughed so hard at Vala grabbing Cameron's bag and trying to step in his steps Also I loved Vala patting Sam's back after they got out. Two lovely little things that made the episode better

Baal is so fun, setting there ranting to himself He's so, what's the word so selfish and evil; I love it The powerbar thign was fun (Sam throwing it to Cam/ Cam opening the wrapper). I thought Baal might put his wrapper in the box but I'm glad Cameron took his dagger. Funny I thought he'd have more weapons on him. Anyway did Vala bring a hair dyer with her? lol I also like how Baal sees Curiosity while Daniel sees Greed I like the different mind sets

Also making Adria show herself was great. She was claerly meaning she kills Sam first. For one she won't kill her mother after aready proving how she feels about her in front of Daniel on the Ori ship. Anotehr reason was the way Daniel kind've moves in front of Sam as well as the others moved towards her. Then of course there was the close up on Sam's face afterwards. Part of me wonders why she choice Sam first, I mean we now know she couldn't kill Sam with her powers but why not say someone else? Was it being she was standing next to Daneil or becuase she was a women and Adria wanted to play on the "manly protcter feelings". Sorry didn't say that right but you get my meaning; she wanted to play on the feelings of "it's the man role to protect the women folk from danger" (that old sexist bit) or am I way over thinking this? Oh yeah I loved Baal's line about getting out of the way of fire; I just love the way he carrys himself.

The only thing I didn't like so much becuase the stupid chiffhanger was the Adria/Vala connect fouced on much. We didn't get to see Adria show a whole lot of feeling towards Vala beyond the one time. Though Vala's reaction "fake firing of her gun at her was funny". IMO it's clear Vala has decided Adria has to die and isn't too upset about it (she doesn't it show it on the other side is what I mean). She showed little emotion when Cameron shot at Adria to kill her.

The Riddles where fun I like that almost everyone got help out; Camreon/term - child, Teal'c- Wind, Cameron - Key, Daniel -Faith.It maybe my bais coming through but it felt like Cameron was more the driving fouce with the child at least he took the lead. It's something Sam would have done in the past IMO. I liked it I love how everyone had to help with the gate/bars thing. Also Teal'c's "Assist us, or I will squeeze you through these bars" was too funny

I liked both Vala and Baal agreeing about following the child, it was another funny scene. It reminded me that they both came from simlar worlds... well at least that Vala lived in Baal's world for atime and they come to same thought about the child because of this.

Daniel having faith and walking throughthe fire was prefect Danie;'s mind, the way he views thigns, his faith; it reminded me why he ascended in the first place.

The save reminded me of the one from season one. I love how Daniel showed Adria out. I wondered why she looked scared over the episode but now I know it's becuase for the first time in her life she can't use her powers. Very well acted in the scene. I still think Daniel should have tried to push her off the edge once he called her out. Cuase wihtout her powers she'd just fall and fall and fall. Thought her necklace might have been able to stop him. I still would have tried.

Daniel not being able to pick up the Sangraal IMO doesn't mean he isn't "prue of heart" enough. IMO it's becuase the Sangraal wasn't there, that was a hal-o-germ. <-That not he right spelling. I don't think it say anythig bad about Daniel.

Well that was a super long review for me so I'll shut up now. I'm only got one more thing to say, well whiny about. I have to wait till April to see the second part to this episode That way too long!

    It depends where you live.

Quest 2 will show on January 9th in the United Kingdom, but not until April in the United States, and sometime before that in Canada.

Well I think the part 2 is on the 10th in the UK, being that every other episode has been on a wednesday. But I can't wait for it to be on, when I saw on Sky One that the simpsons was on for the past 2 instead I went mad.

Anyway I think that the dragon will end up a hologram (but the same kind of hologram Mitchell had to fight) and they will beat it, somehow.

    Spoiler:
I loved the look on Teal'c's face when the C4 went off in the dragons mouth, and also the fact that the Ori soldiers stood no chance even without the lightning that struck them.

haha, this was an awesome episode! I liked all the tasks.. reminds me of... well, Indiana Jones and Monty Python with an extreme sci fi twist. I just think they should've put the Killer Rabbit in there somewhere... or the Knights of Ni. Then SG-1 would have had to find a shrubbery or something ridiculous like that...
