Earth Symbol Stargate Bloopers? and Outtakes

    Hello Campers

Just a question for ya: Would you pay to see bloopers from Stargate SG-1? Would you buy like a box set of them?

My curiosity is just getting the better of me again -- it's something I have to learn to control. I'm just thinking there must be some reason that bloopers weren't really included on any of the DVD sets. I mean there were a few here and there -- which was great -- but does anyone know why or want to speculate on why more aren't released? My two cents, it could be seen as defamation of the characters/actors to laugh at their mistakes. I mean, I realize some of my personal foibles make others laugh, but there are some time I don't always appreciate it. Could the cast/producers of Stargate be feeling the same way? Just wondering.

One of the reasons for no bloopers is cost. It costs to develop film, and since every blooper they develop costs money, they don't keep many

Now that they're shooting on HD, it may be different, but it still takes time and money.

Let's say each unit has 2-3 cameras rolling each day. I'm willing to bet that each of those cameras shoot a couple of hours of footage each. So two units, two cameras, it's easy to rack up 8 hours of raw footage a day.

Do you have any idea how long it'd take to sort through that? get out all the drek and pull out the bloopers?????

I personally would love them to release more. I'd love them to put out 'directors cuts' of the episodes, putting BACK IN all the stuff they cut for time

The few eps that have had alternative versions made, i'd love to see the version we didn't get

Now, since s8 is only 20 eps, that means that, for the UK release anyway, it'll only be 5 dvd's instead of the normal 6. Maybe, just maybe, they'll come up with some cool jobbies to stick on that sixth dvd

I would love to see bloopers! It's not the idea of laughing at them that interests me. It's the ability to see them how they really are and see them interact with each other as friends. As I've seen in bloopers from other shows, once someone goofs on line they usually go out of character and then joke with the people around them. I've only been able to see small amounts of this type of friendly interaction between the actors from things like behind the scenes interviews and convention videos.

To quote from a April 16, 2003 online chat interview with Michael Shanks on SciFi.com:
Question: what is the funnest thing that has happend to you while on set
Michael Shanks: The way Don talks when he can't remember his lines

I can totally imagine Don Davis getting annoyed at messing up his lines and if it's something the case enjoys then I know it's something the fans would enjoy as well.

I think bloopers would be great: gaffes and goofing around on the set. I think Martin Wood and Michael Shanks have gone on record as not wanting to distribute or include deleted scenes, though. Something about presenting the work in its intended form, which I can understand.

Besides, I see how worked up we fans get when a character or storyline doesn't do this or that. I can just imagine if they distributed alternative scenes that show, for example, that Apophis lived, Daniel kissed Freya or some other such craziness!

This reminds me of something I've been trying to figure out for quite some time now.

I recall, vividly, that there was something on either the DVDs "behind the scenes" stuff or on the sci-fi channel's lowdown shows that showed Carter getting goosed by Thor. I know it's been talked about/referred to by AT and directors, but I can SWEAR there was a clip of it somewhere.

It was in Small Victories. The scene I can vividly imagine is where Carter and Thor are facing the big screen (so we see their backs, side by side) and whoever was controlling the puppet moved Thor's right arm and goosed AT.

Do I just have a really really great imagination or did this really happen? If it DID really happen, where did it happen (on the DVDs? Lowdown?).. i

    It's driving me INSANE.

well, we wouldn't want THAT!! I believe you're right, it DID happen (I remember AT talking about it), it was in the Lowdown.... I think.... help, you've got me doubting my memory!! I don't think we saw the actual clip, just ones from the rest of that ep (and playing around with Thor), and then it was AT describing how the puppeteers pinched her butt and she turned round and slapped the puppett (cracked me up! ).

As for the rest, I'd LOVE some bloopers , but I can understand if they're a little difficult to get hold of for the past seasons I would be ecstatic to get some directors cut stuff, seems to me there are a number of eps where they had to cut stuff that would have had an impact on the "feel" of the ep. (the shipper in me is drooling at the concept ). *sigh* I can but dream....

i know she talked about it because she slapped 'thor' so hard she almost knocked his head off and was afraid that she'd broken him

I THINK that is the reason behind her 'did i hurt you' or whatever quip when she hugs him at the end

I do know that in small vics, sam's 'ya sure ya betcha' was amanda's adlib

it was the end of the day, she was tired and she was goofing off. since they weren't shooting her mouth, she knew she could talk and they would just edit it out...instead they left it in

As to bloopers, it's my impression a lot of 'jack's' quips are really rda, doing his darndest to make his co-stars break up. If you look, there are times when they'er barely holding it together.

one prime example is the beginning of zero hour. In the beginning jack is talking to someone and you can just see that person struggling not to crack up

I guess I can understand everything costs more when you're talking about high speed cameras and the like. Maybe the more people who say they'd be willing to pay for some funny stuff, the better the chance there will be a release of them someday.

It is nice to see the actors as themselves. As far as I can perceive, RDA is pretty much himself when portraying O'Neill. You can "see" him in MacGyver too, just not quite as clearly. I would really like to see MS and CJ out of character. All of them, really. Just to see them for them -- they all seem to be a great group of people -- people you want to know for who they are, not just what they do.

Speaking bloopers, I've asked before but I'll ask again: Does anyone have a copy of the Season Seven "Lowdown?" I'm really eager to see it -- I missed it when it aired originally and from the descriptions of the DVD release, it's not going to be there. Please, if anyone does and is willing to share, I would be ECSTATIC.

LOL! Me too! I had to stop and think for a minute if we saw the actual clip, or if I was just creating in my memory.... OK, now you've totally got me doubting myself! Maybe it really WAS a clip!!
*runs off to search thru masses of videotapes to figure out if we're BOTH hallucinating!*
Hopefully someone else out there remembers *pleading look!*, otherwise I'll get back to you.....

Probably, seeing as RDA is part of the cast, though I hear Chris Judge is quite the prankster.

I'd happily buy a Blooper DVD,or Box-set,but as Skydiver said,it's a laborious and expensive job to cull them !
    Pity,as by all accounts,they're all fun-lovers !

Don't know about the other PTB, but Brad Wright has gone on record saying he doesn't like bloopers.

It's not just about the costs of developing film etc. It's also a matter of the actors' contracts. They don't usually cover stuff like bloopers so in order to include them you have to clear it with the actors. They in turn may or may not like the idea of bloopers. This is the reason why you wont find any (to the best of my knowledge) bloopers of Andreas Katsulas on the B5 blooper reels.

Was it BW? I thought it was MW. I know that MS was in agreement about not including the deleted scenes, but I can't remember in which con that was said.

Oh yes, give me bloopers! I love that stuff, along with other various behind the scenes-stuff.

That McGyver-thing from Solitudes still cracks me up.
