Default Ship Names (It's not what you think)

Well, now we know where TPTB are getting their ship names from.

There is also a british space exploratory vehicle or something like that called Daedalus. And there was a proposal about a nuclear powered ion drive spacecraft that was supposed to venture to Jupiter called Prometheus.

Prometheus was more than just a nuclear rocket program, it also incorporated nuclear power suplies for spacecraft. Unfortunatelly, the program has been cancelled by congress. Stupid politicians. Such advance propulsion is one of only two major technology hurdles preventing us from spreading human society thruought the solar system. The second being artificial gravity.

It is estimated that for NASA to return to the moon by 2025 would take roughte a billion dollars. A study last year predicted the private sector could do it in 10 years for around 10 million dollars. That's government red tape at its finest.

Why do they want to go back to the moon?

And on a side not, Lockheed Martin must be making a fortune with the war, and now this!

as a jumping off point for mars it makes a lot of sence if you think about it if you lunch from the moon you save a lot of fuel by not going through the atmospher you can put a base on it to relay massages from earth to mars faster

Earth Symbol Ship Names (It's not what you think)

Names for ships, well i thought of heaps:

Avalon, Apollo, Achillies, Ambrosia, Atlantis, Bellerophon, Icarus, Freedom, Hermes, Aries ( he's also goauld ), Orion, Aurora, Pegasus, Endurance, Artemis, Phaeton, Aphrodite, Alpheus, Posiedon, Hades, Argo, Millenium, Arcturus, Andromeda, Acension, Challanger, Cheyenne ( as in Cheyenne mountain ), Columbia, Dauntless, Defiant, Destiny, Discovery, Endeavour, Enterprise ( so what if its from star trek ), Excalibur, Fearless, Galaxy, Horizon, Liberty, Nautilus, Nebula, Nova, Olympia/Olympic, Phoenix, Republic, Resolution, Revolution, Sentinel, Trojan/Troy, Ulysses, Voyager, Yamato, Zodiac......

I think we'll never have that many ships anyway..... I think they will stick to the ancient greek names---Prometheus, Daedalus, Odyssey---
