I'm part Scottish. Though it's not my last name, I'm a Snodgrass way back there.

Seeing as everything on earlier was named after some ruined Egyptian city, or another I'm in favor of anything Latin.

You could also look up some Latin online and see if you can assemble yourself a city name from that. It shouldn't be too difficult.

Thermopylae, I don't think this was a city name though. Just a place of a great battle between the Persians and Greeks.

Castiana, Sahal and Vagonbrei... but those were called "three distant lands", not cities.
No, 'Eureka' is Greek for 'This bath is too hot.'

El Dorado could be one? But the cheese factor would become enormous.

I'd consider El Dorado to be a very bad move, especially since El Dorado was a person, not a city.

Nah; just a guy covered in pitch and gold dust.

Here's a JavaScript Latin/English translator. I recommend altering the word a bit to imitate linguistic evolution - remember, Latin is supposed to have evolved from Ancient, so the Ancient version of the word would be more complex, not simpler - though after 10,000 years of being spoken by Pegasus natives, it's possible it's eroded a bit.

                            Like for example:
Oriens: rising, the rising sun; east; morning

We'll say it's from the Ancient word: Aurilens
So they named a city: Aurilencia
But the humans messed it up and call it: Arencia

If you're looking further to unlock your latent linguistic abilities, I recommend checking out the linguistic (real and fantasy) stuff on this site.
