Default A question about the Wraith....

Don't know if this is the right forum for this but hey.

The question is the universe is connect right?

And the Wraith could in possibility get to earth without using the stargate?

Since it is theoretically possible isn';t it to get to another galaxy without using them.

Or am i wrong on that?

But if they could they could get to Earth without using the gate it would mean of course knowing which galaxy but they could go and feed in other galaxys since they could use there hyperdrives and such to get to these furthur away galaxys.

    Or have i miunderstud this?

Well from your post I am guessing you havent seen Allies (episode 20 Atlantis), following are spoilers for Allies:

    Spoiler:
The Wraith trick the Atlantis expedition into helping and steal their Ancient hyperdrive plans and the location of all planets we know of, including Earth, the episode ends as a cliffhanger with 2 Hiveships headed for Earth.

The Wraith have 3 problems in getting to Earth.

1: Slow hyperdrives that need to rest often, they are trying to solve this by finding Ancient tech.
2: They have no clue where Earth is, which is why they need Atlantis.
3: they need to bring food for the ride, not to much of a problem but still a problem.

EDIT: To your question about whether the universes are connected: Yes, it is the same universe just 2 different galaxies, approximatly around 2,5+ million lightyears apart.

The one thing that's been driving me nuts about the Wraith is that, at least in season 1, everyone goes around acting like if the Wraith got hold of the Atlantis gate there'd actually be a problem as far as the Wraith getting to Earth. They completely disregard the iris. Even if they had a GDO code, somebody would get the iris shut down in a matter of moments, and That Would Be The End Of That.

It's not just the gate, it's the city itself.

Yeeeeeeah, you do have a point. Somehow or another, though, they kept giving me the impression early on that it was the gate they were worried about. By the end of the season, it was pretty clear they were worried about the hyperdrive engines.

There are no planets in the intergalactic void, none at all, mayby some barren rocks but no planets, stars or anything else, so they wouldnt be able to grab new food after they left Pegasus.

I may have missunderstood your question, but it is very unlikely that there are other galaxies between Pegasus and the Milky way.

Teoretically they Wraith should just have gone into hibernation when Atlantis hid themselves again, why didnt they? No clue. Seem to be a limit to when or how much they can do it.

Actually, there is a very strong likelyhood of them encountering other galaxies between here and Pegasus.

I was wondering why the Wraith are so into finding Earth. Haven't they learned that there are many other highly populated planets in our galaxy ?

    Possibly not.

Also, when trying to scare the pants off your enemies, it helps to threaten something they care about.

Either way, it would likely be far more practical to secure Earth before doing anything else, as Earth's gate is the only one that can connect with the Pegasus galaxy.

Most of them don't have over six billion people though.

I've never understood why that is. Surely as long as you hook a ZPM or some other kind of huge power source up to the gate, any of them can go from the Pegasus Galaxy to the Milky Way, or the other way. Or have I missed something?

    I'm not so sure

    Has this actually been mentioned?

The Atlantis gate is the only one that can dial the Milky Way, but I don't think that they've mentioned anything about:
    - Dialing another MW gate from Atlantis
    - Dialing Atlantis from another MW gate

EDIT: Damn, Naonak beat me to it

But most of them don't have irises, which has got to be a good (from the Wraith's PoV) thing

You missed the part where you have to have the atlantis control crystal in the DHD to be able to dial earth.

They need to take out earth because we are their main enemies at the moment. If they stop us then we can't stop them.

If I remember correctly, it's the lack of a DHD that allows us to do that. If I remember correctly it's because of the hundreds of Ancient safetly protocols installed in the DHD and our limited knowledge of how to program that we can't input eight chevrons into other Stargates. You need another control crystal so that you can program the Stargate to do the eight chevron think. I think that as far as we know the only control crystal of that type that exists is in Atlantis. I think. But since we rely on a computer program which we can reprogram easily, we can make our Earth gate connect to other galaxies. I'm probably remembering incorrectly, but that's what my understanding is. I think.

As for the Wraith question. Yes, they could do that. I don't remember, actually I'm not sure they've said yet, what they use for fuel, but as long as they have enough with them and a nice little herd of humans and they have a lot of time on their hands, they can just set off on a journey to the Milky Way and spend most of the time hibernating. It would take them quite a while though. Like, a long while.

Hey, I'm sure if it came to it, they'd overload all the naquadah generators that provide secondary power to atlantis and take the zpm with them back on the Daedalus.
