Ok I had another idea, that will hopefully take off Basically, there are a lot of great episode endings in Stargate so I thought it would be interesting to see what the overall best final scene is, as voted by Gateworld members.
As I for one can't remember all the final scenes, I'll post them for each round. We'll start off with the first part of season 1: episodes 1 - 11
Children of the Gods, part 1 (I realise this scene is actually cut from the episode when shown seperately but it's the last scene before the beginning of part 2 in the transcripts, so sorry if anyone has an issue with this scene being here as opposed to another of the possible cut off points between part 1 and 2)
INT—O'NEILL'S HOUSE
[O'Neill collects two beers from the fridge, takes them to the living room where Daniel is waiting. Daniel sneezes.]
O'NEILL
Nice catch.
DANIEL
Thank you, sorry. Gate travel always seems to make my allergies…
(He blows his nose)
Sorry.
(He takes the beer)
O'NEILL
So, you were saying.
DANIEL
Anyway, um, as soon as you were gone they realised that they were free, I mean, Abydos was their world for the taking.
O'NEILL
Have a little party did ya?
DANIEL
Oh yeah, big, big party. They treated me like their saviour, it was um…embarrassing.
O'NEILL
It's amazing you turned out so normal.
DANIEL
Well if it wasn't for Sha're I probably…
(He pauses at her memory)
She was the complete opposite of everyone else,
(He sits)
she practically fell on the floor laughing every time I tried to do some chore that they all took for granted. Like um, grinding yaphetta flour. I mean, have you ever tried to grind your own flour?
O'NEILL
I'm trying to kick the flour thing.
DANIEL
(Laughs)
This is going straight to my head.
(Takes another swig of beer)
What time is it anyway? I must have Gate lag or something.
O'NEILL
Daniel, for crying out loud, you've had one beer. You're a cheaper date then my wife was.
DANIEL
Yes, when am I going to meet your wife?
O'NEILL
Oh, probably…uh, never. After I came back from Abydos the first time she'd already left.
DANIEL
I'm sorry.
O'NEILL
Yeah, so was I. I think in her heart she forgave me for what happened to our kid, she just…couldn't forget.
DANIEL
And what about you?
O'NEILL
I'm the opposite, I'll never forgive myself, but sometimes I can forget. Sometimes.
(He takes another swig of beer)
Children of the Gods, part 2
INT—GATE ROOM
[The three fall through the Gate, Casey collapses to the ramp.]
CARTER
Now! Lock it up, lock it up!
TECHNICIAN
(Over the intercom)
Closing iris!
[The iris closes and they hear four metallic thuds as the guards that followed hit the metal. Then the sounds stop.]
TECHNICIAN
(Over the intercom)
Wormhole disengaged.
[The iris opens. Medics rush up the ramp as they are called.]
SOLDIER
Medic! Medic
!
O'NEILL
You got him?
(To Kawalski, motioning to Casey)
KAWALSKI
Yeah, I got him, thanks. Hold on here, get these people back.
[The refugees surge forward and circle Carter and O'Neill, hugging and thanking them warmly.]
MEDIC
We've got to help these people, please.
[Hammond walks up the ramp, amidst the confusion as Samuels clear the way for the medics.]
SAMUELS
Let's go, man down, stand back! Stand back!
[The medics lift Casey on to a stretcher.]
MEDIC
Let's get him to the infirmary, let's get him inside.
(They depart)
HAMMOND
Colonel O'Neill. Care to explain?
CARTER
Um, we can use the Stargate to send these people home, sir.
HAMMOND
What's he doing here?
(Motioning to Teal'c)
O'NEILL
General Hammond, this is Teal'c. He can help us.
HAMMOND
Do you know what he is?
O'NEILL
Yes, sir I do, he's the man who saved our lives. And if you accept my recommendation, sir…he'll join SG-1.
HAMMOND
That decision may not be up to you.
SAMUELS
Stand back, let's get him off the ramp.
[Kawalski is on his knees, looking a little distressed.]
O'NEILL
Kawalski, are you all right?
KAWALSKI
Yeah, I'm good.
(He stands and regains his composure)
HAMMOND
Colonel O'Neill, Major Kawalski, this sure-to-be-very-interesting debriefing for SG units 1 and 2 will be at 0730.
O'NEILL
Yes, sir.
SAMUELS
All right, let's get these people situated.
[They leave the Gate Room, leaving Teal'c, Carter, Daniel and O'Neill standing at the base of the ramp. Daniel looks back to the Gate.]
DANIEL
She's out there somewhere, Jack.
O'NEILL
I know. So's Skarra.
DANIEL
So what do we do?
O'NEILL
We find 'em.
[He leaves and the others follow, behind them we see that Kawalski is still standing at the top of the ramp, almost inside the Gate. He walks down the ramp towards the camera and as he gets close, his eyes glow.]
The Enemy Within
INT—SGC GATE ROOM
HAMMOND
Colonel O'Neill, is SG-1 ready to ship out?
O'NEILL
We are, sir.
HAMMOND
Then you have a go for a standard recon mission on P3A-575.
O'NEILL
Yes, sir.
[The doors open and Teal'c walks through.]
TEAL'C
Reporting as ordered.
O'NEILL
Sir…It's sir.
TEAL'C
Sir.
HAMMOND
Welcome aboard, son.
[O'Neill and Teal'c walk up the ramp to join Daniel and Carter.]
CARTER
The MALP reports conditions on the planet are favorable.
[Together, SG-1 walks up the ramp. They stop in front of the Gate. O'Neill looks across at his team.]
O'NEILL
Well?
[Together, SG-1 walk into the wormhole.]
Emancipation
EXT—PLANET—DAY
[The team approaches the Stargate.]
CARTER
So you think this new anesthesia will be a new miracle drug on Earth?
DANIEL
Well if it is, I bet somebody else will get the credit. We can never say where it came from.
O'NEILL
Damn. Guess I'm going to have to cancel that Oprah interview.
TEAL'C
What is an Oprah?
The Broca Divide
EXT—DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN DARK AND LIGHT—P3X-797
[The Touched, now cured, begin to em ergefromthedarkside.]
LEEDORA
(sees an older man)
Father.
[She runs and hugs him, crying. Tuplo sees Melosha and runs to hug her. There is a reunion between the Touched and Untouched. Tuplo and Melosha walk over to O'Neill and kneel before him.]
TUPLO
You have done it my lord. Thank you.
O'NEILL
We'll teach you how to take care of the rest
[He helps Tuplo and Melosha up. SG-1 and SG-3 begin to walk away]
CARTER
Uh, sir?
O'NEILL
Yeah?
CARTER
About my earlier behavior. I wasn't myself, I—
O'NEILL
(breaking in)
Oh Carter, I don't even remember your earlier behavior.
CARTER
You don't?
O'NEILL
No, I was affected too, remember?
CARTER
Right. Good, I'm glad.
O'NEILL
By the way, how's the wound?
CARTER
Wound?
O'NEILL
I understand you got stabbed in the stomach or something?
CARTER
Oh! Yeah, it's nothing. With any luck there won't even be a scar.
O'NEILL
Oh, good. I was concerned.
CARTER
You were?
O'NEILL
Sure. If it doesn't heal properly you'll never wear that sweet little tank top number again.
[O'Neill walks off, leaving Carter looking after him, bemused.]
The First Commandment
EXT — STARGATE
[The Stargate is upright again. SG-1, Jamala, Connor and a few natives are hovering. Carter walks over to O'Neill.]
CARTER
Uh, I think we're ready.
O'NEILL
Think we should tell them to bury the Gate after were gone?
CARTER
Teal'c seems to think the Goa'ulds won't be back.
[Daniel joins them.]
DANIEL
Maybe we should come back and check on these guys.
CARTER
I think we've done enough, don't you?
[Daniel looks at her, then nods and walks away.]
O'NEILL
Something else on your mind?
CARTER
I had the chance to end this, Colonel. He literally asked me to do it.
O'NEILL
Killing a man is no badge of honor, Captain.
CARTER
I know.
O'NEILL
Look, I'm no expert on this thing.
(He waves Hanson's bible)
I generally read one commandment, and I think it's the first.
CARTER
"I am the Lord your God, and you shall take no other Gods before me?"
O'NEILL
(stops and makes a face)
Okay, it's not the first one. I'm talking about the "No Killing" one. No matter what the reason, every time you break it, you take one step closer to Hanson.
[He looks at Carter, who nods.]
CARTER
Thanks.
[O'Neill hands her the bible, then goes to where the rest of SG-1 and the villagers are talking.]
O'NEILL
(to Jamala)
So, you going to be all right?
JAMALA
Yes.
(He shakes O'Neill's hand)
The world outside the caves…it's very big, yes?
DANIEL
Yeah…it's bigger then you can imagine.
[Daniel and Jamala shake hands. Daniel walks and to DHD and dials Earth. Carter transmits the iris code. SG-1 and Connor walk through the Gate. The natives watch them go, Jamala at their head. He looks up at the orange dome, which is now keeping his people safe.]
