I haven't read the spoilers but I've seen the picture and I must say I LOVE Matt's new look. I hope he gets to keep it.

Big casting spoiler for the 50th under the cut. But it is from the Daily Express so take with as many pinches of salt as you think necessary.

    Spoiler:

    TOM’S APPOINTMENT FOR DOCTOR’S 50TH

    http://www.express.co.uk/features/view/324944

FORMER Doctor Who star Tom Baker is being lined up to make a dramatic return to the television series to mark the show’s 50th anniversary, Day & Night can reveal.

The actor, who starred as the Time Lord from 1974 to 1981, has been approached about reprising the role when the show celebrates its half century in 2013.

Famed for his character’s trademark scarf and curly hair, Baker, now 78, will join forces with current Time Lord Matt Smith, 29. “It will be fitting to have Tom back to mark the 50 years,” says a show insider. “He was a big part of the show’s success and is much-loved by the fans.”

Having successfully played the character for seven years, Liverpool born Baker, who spent six years as a monk before losing his faith in his youth, was initially keen to distance himself from his most famous role.

He refused to be involved in the 20th anniversary show in 1983 with producers bizarrely replacing him with a waxwork dummy when his fellow Doctors appeared for the publicity photograph.

In recent years he again came to prominence after agreeing to narrate the Little Britain series for comedians David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

Doctor Who bosses are remaining tight-lipped about their plans for next year but there is speculation the anniversary series could also prove to be Smith’s last as he prepares to pursue new roles.

Doctor Who: Weeping Angels beat The Daleks to be voted fans’ favourite ever monsters

    http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2012-...-ever-monsters

Blink and you could miss them but the Weeping Angels are the best loved (or should that be most feared?) monsters in the Doctor Who universe, according to a RadioTimes.com poll.

Created by current Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, and first appearing in 2007 episode Blink, the Angels are living statues, unable to move as long as they are being watched. But close your eyes or look away and they’re instantly on the move, stone fangs and claws bared. And if the lights go out...

More than 10,000 fans voted in our poll, with nearly half (49.4 per cent) choosing the Angels as their favourite monsters. Classic Who adversaries the Daleks were in second place with 17 per cent of the vote, followed by another Moffat creation, The Silence, in third place with almost 12 per cent.

The Doctor's fellow Time Lord The Master, and Moffat's microscopic swarm The Vashta Nerada, were in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with the Cybermen, Davros, the Zygons, the Ice Warriors and the Sontarans completing the top ten.

But just what is it that makes the Weeping Angels better (or worse) than all those other fearsome foes? Here's what the voters said...

"Not only are they deadly (look away, you die, blink, you die, look them in the eyes, you die)and fiercely intelligent (as shown when they steal Bob's vocal chords), but it takes an everyday object and makes you wonder" said Alyssa Woods.

"I can't look at statues anymore without freaking out," added Erin Louise Johanson.

"The Weeping Angels are the most frightening Doctor Who Monster because no one knows what their objective is," reckoned George Hanson Jnr. "Are they purely evil, just wanting to kill for joy, or is there a reason to why they do what they do?"

Lizzie Eva Anderson had another theory: "They don't scare me because they're evil and they'll murder me just because, but because they're what I've been afraid of my whole life; that thing that will murder you when you aren't looking and aren't expecting it."

Alexander McGee agreed: "They are the most terrifying because they do not conform to the typical psychology of destruction. Creatures of the abstract, what could possibly be more terrifying?"

Sarina Eden Roose said: "Normally i don't get freaked ou about doctor who monsters, but every time i'm walking past any statue i always feel the need to stared at them without blinking!!"

And Ashleen Macaleff said: "They forced me to keep my eyes wide open in the episodes and made me dread the next scene...almost like in underwater scenes where you feel you have to hold your breath."

The greatest Doctor Who monsters of all time

    1. The Weeping Angels (49.4%)

    2. The Daleks (17%)

    3. The Silence (11.84%)

    4. The Master (8.66%)

    5. The Vashta Nerada (6.81%)

    6. The Cybermen (2.53%)

    7. Davros (2.2%)

    8. The Zygons (0.69%)

    9. The Ice Warriors (0.54%)

    10. The Sontarans (0.33%)

    K-9 - series update
Wednesday, June 13, 2012 - Posted by Chuck Foster

K-9 series producer Paul Tams has kindly provided us with an update on how things are progressing with the second series:

Bob (Baker) and I are presently working on the updates for series two and are also entering a new production partnership. Bob will be penning more of the series and plans are for a further 26 episodes.

With the help of a fantastically talented CGi artist I have tweeked K-9 for the second series, taking in much of the criticism and likes from the fans. We have already done some test footage of his upgrade. All I can say at present is that I never liked the big ears myself, that was a Disney thing!. We can't say too much at this stage but K-9's future is looking very healthy.

We hope to make some further announcements regarding start of production etc later this year.

Meanwhile, the first series is to be broadcast from September on the Canadian pay-per-view channel BBC Kids, which will see the show running alongside The Sarah Jane Adventures! An announcement is also to be made soon about the show's première within the United States during the Autumn.

You can follow updates etc. about the series via the K-9 Official website and through Facebook.

Acknowledgements: with thanks to Paul Tams

Very interesting couple of articles over on Newsrama.com talking about the styles of clothing the Doctor wore during his first 8 incarnations:

Part 1: The dress sense of the Doctors 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th incarnations

Part 2: The dress sense of the Doctors 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th incarnations

Interesting new details on the new companion
    http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/new-compani...ured-34917.htm

Apparently her full name will be released soon too.

One of the points had me thinking though...
    Spoiler:
Her very presence in the TARDIS will change the Doctor and there’s something different about her that will have a knock-on effect for the Doctor/companion dynamic

Could she turn out to be a spy/agent of the Silence or a baddie of some kind. That could affect the Doctors choice of companion.

'Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock' on PS Vita delayed
    Published Wednesday, Jun 13 2012, 15:55 BST | By Matthew Reynolds |

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock on Vita has missed its intended release date.

Scheduled for today (June 13), a spokesperson for the BBC confirmed the game has been "slightly delayed", but has yet to provide a new release date.

"The Vita version is undergoing additional testing and will be slightly delayed to ensure we deliver the best version for Doctor Who fans," read the statement issued to Digital Spy.

Both the PS3 and Vita versions were originally scheduled for March. The PS3 version was released last month at PSN and retail.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is the first of three planned releases by BBC Worldwide, and will be a PlayStation timed exclusive in Europe before releasing on PC later in the year.

The Vita version will offer a number of unique features, including Near support and save sharing between platforms, which ties into Sony's vision of "console quality gaming" in the mobile space.

Doctor Who Steven Moffat teases 'scary' new monster: 'It's a good one'
    Published Thursday, Jun 14 2012, 14:25 BST | By Daniel Sperling |

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed that he has created a new monster for the series which he knows will "scare" viewers.

The writer assured fans of the BBC show on Twitter that the latest nemesis for Matt Smith's Time Lord will be "a good one".

"See this new monster I've invented? This is a GOOD one," he wrote. "This will SCARE you. Oh yes."

Among the villains already confirmed for Doctor Who's upcoming seventh series are the Daleks, who were last seen on the show in 2010, and the Weeping Angels, who will somehow be involved with the departures of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill).

The first pictures of Smith with the Doctor's new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, emerged earlier this month.

Moffat recently insisted that there is "no chance" of the BBC "giving up" on Doctor Who, describing the show as "a huge money-spinner".

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in the autumn, with the series seven première debuting at this year's Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Watch the trailer for the next series of Doctor Who below:

In an interview in The Guardian about the olympic drama Bert and Dickie, Matt had something to say about Doctor Who...

The drama was filmed last summer, in a break in filming for Doctor Who, which takes up Smith's time for nine months a year. And this Doctor says he has no intentions of regenerating just yet.

"I am loving making it, I think we have one of the strongest seasons yet coming up, I really do. We go into the 50th year all guns blazing and I'll be around," said Smith, joking that he wanted to continue in the role "Forever! For 50 years!"
    Excellent!
