how come the stargate is a circle?

i believe it wopuld be much better if it was a square, be cause then you could fit squares through? hmmmm interesting?

    Because the ancients like circles.
or because you cannot really rotate a inner part of a square,

A cubed stargate would be cool, and you could fit five square puddlejumpres in it... how about an arch shaped Stargate?, you know a disguised one for a palace of some sort for a quick escape?

If you're messing with stuff as complex as wormholes, you'd probably want to go with the simplest shape, which is a circle.
The truth is out there. Getting there, well thats a whole different can of worms.

Ancients prefered circles - the Jumpers, the rings, the head grabber, therefore the Stargate is as well

Why is a plane's hull, usually, circulair shaped? Probably for the same reason as the stargate is. A circulair shape can take up (internal) forces far more easily than any other shape since it has no corners or sharp edges (Like an eliptic shape). Basic mechanics really.

There's nothing wrong with a circle. And there's nothing stopping you from chucking square things through the Stargate. The only problem would be to fit really large things into it, but then again, we'd have the same problem with a square Gate.
