Considering that governments have kept things from the public for fifty years as in cabinet office documents (in the UK) but I think what he is trying to say is how with so many people now knowing is it being kept secret, because the more you tell the harder it is to keep quiet.

Or perhaps he wants to know if the secret keeping that has been taking place in Stargate would be possible in reality. Actually he seems to have already made up his mind on the matter.

It could be kept easily a secret for even more that 7 years. Heck, the U.S. military is much more powerful than most people believe.

              such a great discovery(stargate)

according to the storyline of SG1,there are many things happened.

after those things happened, the whole world should
              be already known the truth.

you must know the whole world is not fool, when something
strange happened, people will try to figure out, people will
not just believe the government's explanation. saying

It doesnt matter if people find out about such secrets or not. What does matter is that even if they did no one would believe them. After all who would you take your theory to? Take it to the media and they will ask for evidence. Evidence that will most probably get confiscated as soon as the government realises the media has it (in the interests of national security). US government can do pretty much anything in the name of national security by law.
As for other governments besides those ont he international overseeing committee, i doubt they will have the technological or scientific know how to adequately prove anything. Even if they do, again it will come down to who the world will believe, the superpowers or some random country somewhere who thinks they have uncovered a world conspiracy.

Possible maybe, the best approach, no. When such a powerful enemy as the Goa'uld was known, an international effort beyond the scale of WW II should have been made. First, the other major powers should have been notified and plans begun to internationalize the effort. Much greater forces should have been sent off-world instead of leaving all our forces on Earth.

Gradually more and more countries should have become involved until the whole planet was united in a combined effort. While it may not have been a good idea to make it public right away, the stargate program should not have been kept a secret for more than a year.

For a TV series, having a small, select secret group saving the planet made for good drama. When facing a real enemy as powerful as the ones portrayed in the show only an all-out international effort would do.

                      Yes.

How many NASA photos have you seen were you can clearly see smudged areas.... gotta love airbrushing things out.

Or how bought this... the DOD's financial budget, when audited, usually always has billions of dollars unaccounted for so called 'black projects'. What also usually happens is that the DOD will put money aside for buying, for example, 100 tanks, when they'll only buy or use 10. This is so that defense contractors can capitalize on war time purchases.

When planning a campaign for war you have to take into account:

                      - how much armor (tanks, for this example) you'll need
                      - how much armor your enemy has
                      - how much armor do you expect to lose
                      - how quickly the enemy can get new armor manufactured
                      - how quickly you can get new armor manufactured

If 2 sides start off with 100 tanks, but only 1 of those sides is apple to replenish there tanks, that side is most likely going to win. THats why commercial areas, specifically ones that are used for military manufacturing, are targeted during war. It slows down military production. Its more common during attrition based warfare, such as ww1 and ww2. However, its still an important concept in maneuver warfare, only the enemy usually tries to limit the movement of enemy forces, rather then trying to destroy its production.

Bearing that in mind, I hope they dont have an Asgard locked up somewhere underground of CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN!

Well, does the world at large know what happens in Area 51? Stargate Command is just a military facility. You'd be aware of it, it would have a random name of no significance and you'd understand exactly nothing about what goes on behind the tons of electric fence, motion sensors, et cetera.

                              I think not.

The secret official records on the Kennedy assassination were withheld from the public until the mid-90s.

The F-117 was developed throughout the 1970s, first by government scientists and then by Lockheed's skunkworks until its first flight in '81. The USAF also spent in the neighbourhood of $80b secretly developing the B-2 bomber from (at least) 1981 until its public unveiling in 1988.

The Area 51 facility has only very tacitly been acknowledged to even exist by the US federal government; admitting only in 2003 that they have an "operating location" 'near the lake'--declining to grant any further details about a base that's been in operation for what, 50-odd years now? And has been the testbed location for (at very least) the U-2, SR-71, and F-117 projects. God only knows what else they've been and still are doing out there.

These are only some of the state secrets we're aware of. The US federal government is very, very good at sitting on things it wants to keep secret; so I have no doubt they could hypothetically keep something like the Stargate a secret.
