Truthfully, I'm happy with the path tptb have taken with Stargate. I think they've made it into so much more than it ever would have been with three movies.Originally Posted by Cherriey

Thank You SPARTACUS For An Amazing Ride.
Quite true. =0) I can't even imagine how an alien that wasn't the size of the Gua'uld could possess a human body. Then again maybe I'm just being closed-minded.Originally Posted by the fifth man

That article shows absolutely no connection between Stargate and Indepence Day other than that the same people worked on both movies and that the idea for "Independence Day" came up when a reporter asked if the writers believed in aliens and they thought of "Ouh! We could make a movie about that!"Originally Posted by Peoples_General
A Google for "Stargate III" only brought me these links (1st 3 pages):
NONE. Stargate II and III were either observatories, research centers, something to do with astrology or Stargate Cons!
Googling "Stargate Trilogy" gave me almost exclusively forum posts. And an interview where Devlin was reported to still be keen on making sequels to the movie.
One entry from TrekBBS (obviously a forum) states: "basic script of ID4 was SUPPOSED to be the last movie in their Stargate trilogy". Basically, we have nothing but random posts from forums linking them together.

We'll just have to capture and interrogate the guys who made the StarGate movie and Independence Day to get the truth out.![]()
Fabulous plan! We should begin stalking them immediately!Originally Posted by Peoples_General

So I hear. It's all the same idea being recirculated and rehashed. I hold up the Harelquin Romance novels as an example.Originally Posted by XxDark-LordxX
used to be said that it was posed to be SG2 but not
the last original thing i remember was.. well i dont remember anything... but there are many differences between the two movies.. for example the aliens, technology, form of transport, situation, and many more... only similarity is hardly noticable and most likely not intended
"I'm still trying to understand, how you thought it was a good idea to test this device by having someone throw you off a balcony."
"Oh, believe me that's not the first thing we tried."
"I shot him. In the leg."
"I'm invulnerable."
"Aren't you the one who's always spouting off about how proper and careful scientific procedure must be adhered to?"
"In-vul-ner-able!"
That's why I dont' read Harlequins. (Yes I'm a guy and I read romances on occasion)Originally Posted by Cherriey

I did a little checking of my own, did find this.
IGN interview with Dean Devlin
I'm wondering if anyone has simply tried contacting these guys to ask them directly.IGNFF: Am I correct in my understanding that you had a trilogy of films planned out for Godzilla?
DEVLIN: No. No... We left the door open that we could do more if it was successful, but we never figured out what the next parts would be. Stargate, on the other hand, we wrote as a three-parter – and never got to do parts 2 and 3. But that's a whole other story.
It say that pretty much answers it. He clearly says that they planned to do a trilogy but didn't get to do parts 2 and 3. And interview was done in July of 2002, long after Independence Day!Originally Posted by Avatar28
I've only ever heard about them. The interesting fact that they were released in boxes of detergent was rather surprising though. Anyway the only time I read romances (it's really hard to find material that doesn't have some sort of romantic bend to it) is when I need a good laugh. *grin* The decisions those people make are side-splitters!Originally Posted by Xanderic
well they did get to do 11 seasons up untill now and 2 more for sure... so id say thats better than they hopedOriginally Posted by FallenAngelII

I don't know... I didn't think that the same people who did the movie are those that did the series.Originally Posted by XxDark-LordxX
[color=indigo]YES! I can't believe it...I watched ID4 twice yesterday, but I didn't see the similarity until you brought it up. Thanks! (I love that movie BTW.)[/indigo]Originally Posted by Peoples_General

Doubt it's going to happen now though.
I just keep on praying. Independent Day is a brilliant film defferently in my top ten of all time greates.
And thinking about the date of that last link report. then if that indeed true, then perhaps some time next year, we might have a other independent day film.
What fascinates me most about disaster films (and is rarely shown) is the aftermath; how is society and culture carried on/rebuilt? Unfortunately without an overhanging plot this would be classified as an anthopological (if ficitional) documentary. Drat.Originally Posted by knowles2
