Default How do the others know when The Caretaker Dies?

When the female wraith gets killed, she said she is only the care taker and when she dies the other will know, and will awaken, all of them, but how do all the other wraiths know? And is it all the wraiths on that ship or on other ships on other planets? Or are all the wraiths on that one ship?

Most likely that is one of many colony ships. i want to beleive that it is THE colony ship that the Wraiths live on. Also she says "the otherS will know" or whatever. Plural. I think she awokened them because they have a hive mind.

Maybe they have an alarm clock with the setting "wake up when caretaker dies"

Cool, I want to go to Sweeden when I get really old!!

Oh, to be on-topic, there is a sci-fi posting that describes an account of SGA form the Wraith's PoV. In it, the Wraith say/s that the "dying voice of the caretaker" (paraphrased) woke them up. I forget the link to it though.

Err, well it depends, if there on a life support machine there machine bleeps, I heard no bleep and if there not, then they could lay there dead for ages, if the curtain is closed, but if its open someone will see.

And, your avatar is of the giant aliens, not an ascended being. I think.

My theory is that when her life signs are no longer detected by the sensors in the ship, the ship automatically awakens everyone else.

I would like to attribute it to technology too but it looks like they have some sort of biotechnology... their ships look very seedy and organic, almost like the mountain itself. The ship has been there so long that trees grow over it, and I wouldn't mind them going the collective hive mind and/or telepathy way as Lugal just mentioned, but maybe they'll have a creative solution to this. We know that Ancient technology is advanced enough to allow someone with the gene to neurally and naturally pilot it via what almost seems to be a "psychic link" but which is most likely advanced science. The Wraith may use a different approach but with the same end effect. This would come in handy if their guards were being killed off, as others on the ship wouldn't have to be in the eyesight vicinity -- they'd just KNOW and be all over the Tau'ri like wool on a sheep.

So nobody votes for the memo idea, eh? How about "it's in the script"?

This is why I didn't like the idea they were messing around with that Wraith Arm back at Atlantis. If they do have some kind of like with each other maybe they would have been able to loacate us. Seems a little far-fetched because it is just an arm. But hey this is Sci-Fi.

It seems to make sense that since we've already seen their telepathic abilities on Sumner, that they might have other as-yet-unspecified mental powers.

Good thing they didn't show us everything, now we can have a series!
