Romance, jealousy, action/adventure, suspense, tension, grief, regret; Battlestar Galactica’s Jamie Bamber has seen all that and more over the past few days in his role as Captain Lee ‘Apollo’ Adama, and the week isn’t over yet. Coming into the show’s Vancouver production office on his day off for a costume fitting, the actor very kindly sits down to chat about what’s going on with Apollo in Sacrifices, the Season Two episode that he and the rest of the Galactica cast and crew are currently filming.

In the episode Resistance, Apollo helped President Roslin escape and they hid amongst the fleet. Roslin’s plan was to get to the planet Kobol and, using the Arrow of Apollo, locate the Tomb of Athena, which supposedly pointed the way to Earth. In the two-part Home, military and political sides came together in this search, with Roslin and her supporters, including Apollo, eventually returning to the Galactica.

“By the time we get to the end of Home: Part 2 there’s this sense of we’ve all been through so much, and just the physicality of us being assembled on the same ship again is a huge relief,” says Bamber. “Even though differences really haven’t been resolved – there are a number of issues that have just been papered over – there’s such a will amongst everyone that things can be worked out in the right way. So everyone just throws themselves back into their previous responsibilities, including Apollo who resumes his role as KAG [Captain of the Air Guard]. The stories from this point on are also slightly different and take on a new energy."
