    Default the fifth Race

In the fifth race the asgaard said we could become join the alliance when weve proved ourselves.I was thinking whats the point when the ancients are not around anymore as the asgaard have said many times and weve never met the furling so what would be the point in joining the alliance.

Also the stargate timeline has so many contradictions its unbelivable. Atlantis left Earth over 5 million years ago to go the pegasus galaxy. I presume the alliance was before they left which means the asgaard must have been pretty advanced to interact with the ancients all those years ago.So what have they been doing for the past 5million years because theyre not much more advanced than the goauld.(for the amount of time theyve been around compared to the goauld)

There is still the Nox who are pretty advanced, so why wouldn't we want to become their allies.

And we don't know how old the Asgard really are.

Im confused on what your saying about the Nox. They are advanced, so we shouldn't become their allies?

    lol

I changed windows when I was typing and forgot to add the n't

I'm saying that if the Asgard and the Nox want us to become the fifth race and since they both are very advanced (Imagine the stuff we could learn), why shouldn't we take them up on that offer?

Oh, haha, your original post sounded like we shouldn't. I don't think its up to us if we want to become their allies, its really up to the Asgard and the Nox because they are the ones who are already in the alliance.

The Asgard never said that they never met the furlings. Where did you get that from?

Also, Atlantis landed in the Pegasus Galaxy, after seeding the starts with gates. When Atlantis was sunken, the Ancients gated back to the MW, and continued their allaince...

I think the original poster said 'we haven't', not the Asgard.

I know about the alliance. I've seen both episodes. The Torrment Of Tantalus, and The FIfth Race.

WHen jack is gated to Othalla in the Ida Galaxy, the Asgard explain the allaince.

    Asgard: The Ancients
    Jack: Haven't met them
    Asgard: The Nox
    Jack: Met them
    Asgard: The Furlings
    Jack: Haven't met them
    Asgard: And the Asgard
Jack: heard nothing but good things

I don't think that was the exact quote.

Selmak it was a paraphrase. There are no transcripts for SG1 really.

I want to know what makes Earth-based humans close to becoming the fifth race, when they're nowhere near as advanced as the Tok'ra, Tollan, or Aschen. Granted, the Aschen were evil and the Tollan were a bunch of arse-holes. Still, the Tok'ra are pretty advanced.
    It's a Fargate! It's different.

But we are trying the hardest to restore humans to power. We are eliminting the Goa'uld as fast as we can, and taking away alot of the pressure off the Asgard.

    Thanks Man.

    O'NEILL
    Why did I come here?

    ASGARD 2
The Ancients moved on from our region of space long ago, but your sub-conscious mind used their knowledge to find us here, where you could get help.

    ASGARD 1
    Very impressive.

    O'NEILL
    Well, you know...

    ASGARD 1
We did not think your brains had advanced even that far.

    O'NEILL
How is it you know so much about our brains?

    ASGARD 1
We have studied your race closely.

    O'NEILL
    Ah. What did you learn?

    ASGARD 2
That your species has great potential.

    O'NEILL
    Great potential, that's good.

    ASGARD 1
Understand this, there was once an alliance of four great races in the galaxy; the Asgard, the Nox...

    O'NEILL
    Met them.

    ASGARD 1
    ...the Furlings...

    O'NEILL
    Don't know them.

    ASGARD 1
...and the Ancients, the builders of the Stargates.

    O'NEILL
    That's a pretty heady group.

    ASGARD 1
The alliance was built over many millennia. Your race has much to prove before we may interact on that level.

[Jack stands up and approaches the two main Asgards; there's more whispering from the others.]

    O'NEILL
Look, you all seem to be quite wonderful... people. [He crouches down to their level] And I don't want to sound ungrateful, because I really, really appreciate you getting all that stuff out of my head, but you folks should understand that we're out there, now, and we might not be ready for a lot of this stuff but we're doing the best we can. We are a very curious race.

[The Asgard exchange glances, the Asgard 1 offers Jack his hand. Jack looks at it and then gently takes it. Then he stands up as the rest of the Asgard look on.]

    ASGARD 2
You have already taken the first steps towards becoming the fifth race.
