no, the ships shields were only needed to last about 4 seconds. so the super valcono would erupt and blast them out of the hanger so they could hyperspace into orbit. Mckay just timed the hanger bay flooding with lava about 4 seconds before eruption. and to think about it, a supervalcano is a bit of powerfull.
the 4 seconds is all they need to get into space..
two, my theory is this..
remember in "Rising" when we see Atlantis take off of antartica leaving an outpost behind, it looked like Atlantis sits ontop of the outpost.
so my theory is this..
atlantis was under water right, docked onthe seabed. right... so.... could we possibley asume that there could be an outpost on the seabed?
