    Default symbiote poison

I may have missed the episode that answers this question, and forgive me if that's the case. (Spoilers for SG1 8:10 and 1:11 and this is my first time using the spoiler tab, so I may not do it right.)

    Spoiler:
In "Bloodlines," Teal'c gives his symbiote to his son and still lives long enough for Sam and Daniel to show up with the replacement. In "Endgame," the Trust launched those missles with the symbiote poison at the Goa'uld worlds. The Jaffa died almost instantly after the poison hit them. What gives? The symbiote poison isn't supposed to affect human physiology. I can understand why the Goa'uld and Tok'ra hosts die right away, with the symbiotes attached to the spinal cord and all, but shouldn't the Jaffa live for at least a few minutes or hours?

Plot device. It should have taken longer for the Jaffa to die, unless the symbiot releases some kind of poison on its own when it is poisoned. I know they do something similar if they die in a hosted human.
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

Good assumption. There was no explanation as to why they died so quickly.

Maybe there was an explosion near the event horizon which caused a tear in the space time continuum causing a rapid acceleration of the time in which the event took place.

Where do the tachions come in?

Someone got tipped off, tried to blow up the gate right as the poison was launched, caused a rip in the tachyon field from the event horizon as a result of using a left handed subspace weapon which tore the space time continuum. If they had used a right handed subspace weapon they would have destroyed the gate, but since a left handed one was used, that created an acceleration of the tachyons in the space time continuum and thereby resulted in the acceleration of time on one end of the stargate.
Simply since left handed subspace weapons were outlawed by the Tokra Accords, they felt that was the best way to protect themselves.

And now the SG instead of the ST explanation: When Cronus killed Teal'c's father he did it by crushing the symbiote, thus mixing the father's blood with the symbiote's blood and resulting in both dieing.

I assume the same happens after a symbiote get's poisoned.

    Exclamation Re: symbiote poison

Well, since the symbiotes give off a toxin when they die in a host, I would guess the same is true if they're in a Jaffa. From what I understand they can avoid releasing the toxin, but it's not easy. Jolinar did it to save Sam, but she was Tok'ra. The Jaffa symbiotes would be young, and I doubt they cared about their hosts. The Jaffa dude (sorry forget his name) did live a little longer than the Tok'ra Zarin, and that makes sense, a blended host would get a more direct dose of the death toxin.

the symbiote releases its own poison...

that tokra explained that the 'most virulent poison' kills the symbiote, which releases its own toxin, which is just as deadly... thats why the host dies. n thats why the jaffa dies.

LMAO - that just confused the sh** outta me

Imo it took the camera man an hour or two to get his camera ready, and when he arrived the jaffa were already dead

I'd probably have to agree with those who believe the symbiote itself released its own toxin once affected by the symbiote poison. Just sounds like the reasonable answer given previous episodes.
