Where I actually got goose bumps... I hear people use that term very casually all the time here, like: "OMG I saw Carter in the fifth episode of season 9 and I got goose bumps!" Well good for you. You only knew it was coming for about 2 months before it actually happened. When I say goose bumps I mean this was the only time I have ever gotten goose bumps watching television. And when the episode was over I just sat there for five minutes basking in the feeling.
I hear you on the Goose Bump feeling Kilharae!...I first got that feeling from Stargate when 'The Fifth Race' came out in season 3. I definetly felt it watching 'The Lost City'. I remember cheering when the electric squid destroyed Anubis' fleet.

I have had that same feeling some great episodes from shows such as DS9, TNG, Voyager, Farscape and a few other including SGA. You know you are watching greatness.

That was such a fantastic episode... who would have thought Robert Picardo had it in him?

Archer: Lieutenant Mayweather tells me we'll be arriving at Kronos in about eighty hours. Any chance he'll be conscious by then?

Phlox: There's a chance he'll be conscious within the next ten minutes... just not a very good one.

And I just don't see how anyone could like Voyager! It seemed like the whole show was brewed up to try to please its fans, which I just hated. Everyone seems to love 7 of 9, but when they added her you knew they were just completely selling out. I just could not believe it. They felt it necessary to add a borg who happened to have incredibly big breasts? Beyond that I have no problem with the premise, an ex borg becoming a part of the crew is a good idea in my opinion. I might even accept her huge breasts as something I was looking to much into if I didn't hear everyone on these boards say "I thought Voyager was OK until season 5 DROOL 7 of 9. I mean god damn, if I want to see big boobs, I'll look at porn, or I'll tell my woman to get implants, but it's definitely not what I watch startrek for, and it's not what makes startrek a good show. I didn't like the captain either. I think T'pol would have made a fairly good female captain. But if I wanna see a Martha stewart clone... well if I ever want to see a Martha stewart clone remind me to kill myself.

What a crazy thought! A show that pleases it's fans. What are TPTB thinking? Clearly they should be deliberately making a show that everyone hates!

The tone was set in TOS with the regulation Federation miniskirt. I don't agree with it, but you can't complain hot women is 'not Trek'.

Yes, when writers compromise their own princibles to sell product, then everyone loses. No one should write anything based off of "How many people can I please?"

No that was just the way it was back then, when deciding on a uniforms, the women got mini skirts. I doubt it was an attempt to grab ratings as much as it was just another production desicion.

And no you can't say hot women isn't star trek, but that's not what I'm complaining about is it? It's about quality and not completely selling out.
I start to get pissed when low brow ratings grabbers start to be implimented on what's supposed to be a high brow show. That and "SOMEONE DIES NEXT WEEK: STAYED TUNED" Really pisses me off. I think Voyager pulled that one a few times as well.

Good point, but there does have to be some balance between principle and ratings.

I don't understand how you can say 7 of 9 was a ratings grab, but Regulation Miniskirts weren't? They are both 'provocative'. And in the 60s, miniskirts were considered more risque than now. Now, they're de rigeur.

I agree with you Kilharae. I just don't think Voyager alone was guilty of 'ratings grabbing'.

7 of 9 was way more than boobs and a pretty face. Jerri Ryan is a great actress, her character showed a side of the Borg we never got from TNG. Sure I drooled like all red hot blooded males but after awhile it was all about her character. IMHO the first few seasons were rather blaise', I enjoyed the later seasons alot more. There are quite a few stand alone great epsiodes of Voyager. I will do my list one of these days.

LOLOLOL to T'Pol = Martha Stewart comparison Khilarae!...good one

The episode where she developed multiple personalities? She showcased some real talent there, aside from her obvious talent for wearing pants.

Just as an aside here-- Nichelle Nichols (aka Uhura) said she asked to wear a mini-skirt, thus it was made "official" for all females. Go back and watch The Menagerie-- "Number One" (aka Majel Barrett) wore a shirt and pants, as well as the other female crew. Sally Kellerman (Dr Elizabeth Dehner) also wore a shirt and pants and she was Star Fleet too.

                        Anyways, here's my top episodes

                        1) DS9, "In The Pale Moonlight"-- ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and then ya gotta find a way to cope.
                        2) TNG, "The Dark Page"-- Nice to see Troi using her powers correctly and being a helpful counselor.
                        3) TOS, "The Trouble With Tribbles"-- a cute and funny sci- fi way before the movie ET... AND TO TIE-- DS9, "Trials and Tribbleations"-- a nice way to show us that Kirk and crew were heroes, and historically important.

Uhhh, I have to think about the rest of this list.
"That's what you get for dicking around"--Col. Jack O'Neill

That was such a well written episode. And seems to be a favourite of most fans.

It's the highlight of a series when a character delves into evil to do what needs to be done... Star trek usually comes off as being "do the ends justify the means?" When in fact we all know, sometimes our means can't afford to to be justified. Archer made the same desicion when he stole a crusial engine part from an innocent alien ship

But, as T'Pol pointed out, you lose part of what you are defending (ie. your humanity) when you make such decisions. And then it becomes ever easier to rationalise further moral compromises.
