Default The stargate Factory Rely from J. Malozzi.

I asked the following of Mr. Mallozzi.

    "Mr. Mallozzi,

First off thank you for answering my last question. I acted like a screaming fanboy after I saw that you answered my question. Everyone around me looked at me funny. Haha anway I digress.

    My question is as follows:

The ancients where the ones who created the Stargates in both the Milky Way and the Pegasus's Galaxy. That is a massive amount of Stargates. This would logically come to a conclusion that the ancients had to have a massive Stargate factory. Has any of the writers ever thought of this? If so has this idea been in the pipeline for awhile? If not I believe this could either be a good idea or bad idea. The ramifacations for SG-1 or SG-A finding such a factory would be huge. We would be the only race with the capability of making new stargates or positioning new stargates that no one knows about.

This will will probably be why this idea never sees the light of day. Just thought this would be a good idea for you guys to kick around if you haven't thought of it yet.

Also, if you have decided not to use this plot idea why did you decide against it?"

    Mr. Mallozi's answer was:

Its something we have discussed and may be exploring if we get another season.

Now, this is an area where I want a brainstorm of what people would expect to see or want to see with an episode like this.

    For Example:

I would like to see SG-1 get a previously unknown gate address from maybe the ancient database or an artifact. Then when SG-1 gets to the planet they see a huge structure with a stargate statue in the front and a giant stone tablet (about 7 Feet tall) at a closed doorway.

    Mitchel
"Daniel what do you make of this?"

    Daniel
"Well this is absolutley ancient design. Give me a couple of minutes to read this."

    Teal'c
"Colonel Mitchell it is very unancient like for them to leave something like this behind?"

    Sam
"Teal'c is right Colonel. They normally dont leave structures like this out in the open they normally destroy them or hide them under high security."

    Mitchell
"Well I dont see anyway in so I would say that is complete security."

Suddenly the camera focus's in on Daniel who gets a shocked look on his face, Stands up, Moves backward two steps, Stumbles, and falls down. He is still looking at the tablet as he falls to the ground.

Eberyone runs over to Daniel to help him.

    Teal'c
    "Daniel Jackson are you injured?"

Daniel starts open and closing his mouth like he is trying to say something but he is to shocked to say it and noone hears any words coming out.

    Colonel Mitchell looks at Sam
"You ever seen him do this?"

    Sam
    "No"

    Daniel speaking very quietly
    "Factory"

    Teal'c
    "What?"

Daniel grabs Colonel Mitchell and looks him in the eye
"This is the factory where the ancients built the stargate's"

Mitchell, Daniel, and Sam look at each other with shock and disbelief.

    Sam
"Daniel are you sure the transalation might be wrong"

Daniel Histerically walking over to the tablet to translate
"Here lies the great astria porta factory. May the porta unite all races across this vast galaxy. This is it. Do you have any idea what this is and can be?!?"

    Colonel Mitchell
"If this place is still working we can make new stargates, make backups, even put stargates where they never where any?"

Teal'c stands up and looks at the building
    "Indeed."

The opening scene ends with a shot of all the team standing with shocked faces looking at the building.

Now thats an episode I would pay $100 to see especially with the great writers on stargate getting there hands on that story.

Give me your thoughts and Ideas on this story that may possibly be made.

From a logistics perspective, it makes more sense to construct the Stargates on ships. Otherwise each time a ship drops a gate off, they have to travel all the way back to the factory.

If they make the gates on the ships, they could set up the network much, much faster by building them onroute to the planets they want to place them on.

Well, for one thing they'd have to keep it a secret. The only people we know of who have technology anywhere approaching that of a Stargate are the Tollan and the Asgard, so everyone else will want it. And this isnt just the technology itself, it's the machinery that MAKES the technology. In addition to having control over new stargates, this could allow them to build many more things, PJs, drone launchers, all kinds of ancient technology (who knows, maybe even ZPMs, afterall something had to power the factory itself). It would likely be a more valuable find, and an even bigger target than Atlantis.

And thats why it probably won't get made. It would be too complicated.

I wuld love to see sumthing like that happen altho I get the feelin if they do, do an ep about a stargate factory it'll be on SGA, altho I personally think SG-1 deserve to find the factory.

I agree with you. I just don't see them being mass produced in one location. Two or three at a time yes but enough to require a factory? I don't know.

It just seems that it would take a long time to find several hundred planets suitable for human life in the first place and you would have to know how many there were in order to know how many gates you need. So it seems more practical to plant them Johnny Appleseed style. Make and plant as you go, reduces waste.

I agree that this is a good idea, and if done properly could be a brilliant Stargate discovery (although, if done wrong, it could be disasterous)

I don't think I can imagine an actual 'factory' which produces the stargates. Instead I think it'd be something much more advanced and hopefully something beyond my own imagination's limits.

Well I think it's a great idea. For ages I've been wondering how/where the stargates were made and more to the point WHY did earth get a 2nd?

    Why was earth so important?
How did they change Earth's point of origin when they installed the 2nd gate?
Is earth itself a giant space ship which was used to make the stargates? - therefore requiring 2 stargates for alternate parts of the universe????

I think the stargate factory should probably be able to fly like antlantis. It would be pointless for ships to keep coming back for more gates wouldn't it. Therefore it would make sense for the factory to be able to fly around the universe and then allow a fleet of ships to go to individual planets, install gates and then the factory move again.

Come to think of it, that sounds like Atlantis doesn't it?

Which reminds me, when do we find out how the ZPM's are made?/where?
Presumably the ancients (leaving the city in hope that one day their kind could return) must surely of safeguarded themselves against a dead power supply?

Jarnin I like the idea of the factory being on the ships, but you hae forgotten one important thing. The hyperdrie was so good they dont have to worry about taking a long time to get anywhere. So they could still have a factory on a planet.

Helio9 they dont need to keep it secret. They were the most powerfull race around at that time. There was no need to keep it secret. There was no one een close tot he tecnology wise. I still believe as ypu though that they would have kept it secret from the other races though. I think only fellow Ancients would know about it.

Come on people. I know there are more of you out there that can do this idea justice. Respond to this post. This might be a possible episode in season 10. Thats coming from J.Malozzi not me.

But that's like saying because you live 15 mins away you can afford to move your 52 inch tv in your truck back and forth from your friends house to your own everyday. It won't take much off you, especially if you keep it on a caddy but it's still a pain in the butt to do. It would be considerably easier to leave it in the truck and use an extension cord.

And what if you had to take it to a new house everyday, call home to see if everyone's ready for you to pick it up, make sure that where you're putting it is convenient, accessible and stable.... wouldn't it just be easier to have the TV with you?

    Ok enough with the analogies.
