Default Stargate theme park (not what you think)

    http://www.ameinfo.com/67833.html

Dubai-based development company, Osus, is investing $ 54.5m in Stargate, a new theme park located at Zabeel Park. Stargate is a high-tech family entertainment centre themed in the form of a spaceship, which covers an area of 260,000 sqft. Zabeel Park is being developed by Dubai Municipality.

Nothing to do with our favorite show?

A Stargate themed theme park would be excellent.

Unfortunatlely nothing to do with SG but if you read this report (more thorough than the first one - there are some things which strike a chord) - http://www.albawaba.com/en/countries/UAE/189166

They should at least make a Stargate ride at Universal Studios, or someplace like that.

Not based on "our" Stargate! I'm appalled and outraged (not too much though). If there was a "real" stargate theme park, I would definitely go there. That would be fracking sweet!!

someone should try and design one of rollarcoaster tycoon or something like that, you could do a stargate shaped rollar coaster and the paths mark out the outlike of atlantis.

You are the fifth race, your role is clear, if there is any hope in preserving the future it lies with you and your people ~ 8years for those words

imagine having one of those pilot training things that does simulations of stargate space ships. Or having a PC game similar to allegiance- free, web based and has pretty good graphics/servers

The existing Stargate ride is called "Stargate SG 3000." It's a simulator type ride. A google search will tell you more about it (apparently people are not particularly impressed ). In addition to Germany, where it originally opened, Six flags opened it at several theme parks in the USA.

Six Flags Marine World (Vallejo, Calif.)
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (Louisville, Ky.)
    Six Flags Great America (Chicago)

I'd check before you run off to buy your tickets, though, to make sure the ride's still there!

    It is totally crap.

It was ok for the moment, but gawd...they couldn't even get the characters right.

Aphosis had a major son and his name was Klorel, not a daughter.

    (Hammond looked craptastically ugly, too).

    The sound effects were awesome.

But the layout that was supposed to be the "SGC" was horrible (it didn't look anything likes the halls of the SGC, it had vines & a jungle-y look to it. Nothing remotely related).

And at the end, the pod you're supposed to be in from the viewer's POV forgot where the Stargate was and nearly got blown up half a dozen times (on SG-1 they'd have put someone near the 'Gate, right? To guard it? Seriously..).

Utterly FUBAR. Give Aphosis and Hammond new names and it could've been any unbaised SciFi thing.

It is not. I rode it three times when our physics class went to the theme park near us. It was so cool . . . it really felt like going through a wormhole!

(That was the Six Flags in Gurnee, Illinois (Great America, the one with Raging Bull ) if anyone's interested. )
