I was wondering, if the goa'uld have been using the gate for thousands of years, then at some point they must have noticed there are nine chevrons. so why havent they tried boosting the dhds power and dialing an 8 chevron address? i know they probably dont know any, and that it would take months of random dialing to finally get something. but they could just get a jaffa to do that, even if it took months or years. so are we gonna run into them in other galaxies

Would a hundred naquadah generators work and Anubis was happy here because he might get into bother with ascended beings in other galaxies i.e. ori

Plus theres the fact that earth can dial 8 chevrons because the SGC uses a DIY dialing system. Normal DHDs can't dial out of galaxy without the extra control crystal. Maybe Goa'uld knowledge of the stargate is limited so that they can't build the extra crystal

Ya i thought that Earth was the only gate that could dial pegasus- maybe the dhd of the antartic gate had an extra control crystal which enabled us to dial other galaxies, but we wont know cause they had to go away and blow it up

Even if they could go to new galaxies I don't think the trouble would be worth it for them. They have an excellent base here with more worlds and resources than they can manage. The closest galaxy they were probably aware of they probably assumed was controlled by the Asgard who could have kicked their butts....before the replicator business and Anubis.

It would be too much work to waste significant amounts of power to go check out a new race, figure out if they can exploit them and if they're compatible, destroy their civilization.... too much work when there are so many planets in the milky way they still haven't exploited and enslaved.

At the time why would they want to, I mean the Goa'ulds were in charge in this Galaxy, it probably wasnt even thought about as they were here in control/

If I remember correctly the control crystals got destroyed when the dhd shorted out I dont remember what episode that was. I am sure the gou'ald could have developed a more powerful energy source but the gou'ald are also scavangers of tech so thier ability to actually design new technology is suspect, anyone have input on this, I mean they can develop new tech but its going to be based on tech that they already know, the gou'ald are not imaginative liek the ancients they were more concerned with domination if they could do that with thier current tech they dont really have any modivation to seek out new tech or ideas, the ancients are all about expanding ones mind, spirit and knowledge.
