Which unpopular episodes do you like?

This is my attempt to recreate the old 'Guilty Pleasures' thread. The idea is to say why we like episodes which have gotten a negative review from the general fandom. I find I often have trouble explaining why I like "Emancipation", myself.

So the main question is: what episode do you feel like you're the only one who likes? (If that makes sense . . . )

Note that the point is to say why we *like* episodes, not to criticize others' choices. No flaming please.

I liked SGA's "Sanctuary" quite a bit. I was surprised to find that it's almost universally reviled around here.

i like episodes dealing with the unas ("enemy mine","beasts of burden"). they arent like hated lol, but they dont seem as popular as others. i think its hard to pick any episode thats universally hated, since we are all stargate fans

I love the Unas episodes! Especially "The First Ones."

One of my favorites is Threads. I thought Amanda and Carmen's acting was supurb.
I don't know why most people didn't like this ep, maybe it's too much of a ship ep.

I found Citzen Joe quite enjoyable... along with pretty much all the eps Joe classified as "missteps" (holiday being one).

I am a huge fan of clip shows . . . I like 'Politics', 'Disclosure', 'Citizen Joe', 'Inauguration' . . . if there are any others I like them too.

Then there are the 'lame storyline' episodes: 'Emancipation', 'Spirits', 'Bane', 'One False Step'. I actually like those - a statement which has earned me many strange looks over time. Which is why I started this thread in the first place.

And sometimes I feel like the only 'Wormhole X-Treme!' fan. I can't believe how much abuse there is of an episode which was made entirely to be entertaining.

I'm right there with you. "Citizen Joe" was awesome, in my opinion. It may sound stupid, but I don't really hate any sg-1 episodes. I like each episode in its own way. Yeah, some are way better than others, but I appreciate at least something about them all.

I can never do the 'name best/worst of each season' thing because I can't pick a 'best' . . . and 'worst' implies you don't like it and I like all of them.

I have many 'best' - most character development, best development of specific storylines, funniest, most emotional, even best music. I have a feeling I would be a terrible judge for an awards show . . .

I also loved wormhole x-treme, im so surprised by peoples opinions of it sometimes. but to an extent its understandable, cause a lot of the stuff in that episode was inside jokes from the staff. if you listen to the commentary on the dvd it makes a lot more sense, and its really good

Avenger 2.0, Space Race and Gemini seem to get the thumbs down quite often. I really liked those episodes

SG-1: I thought "Urgo" was hysterical, even funnier than "Window of Opportunity". And "Forever in a Day" is one of my favorites, although it hasn't been doing to well in the Best Ep Tournament thread.

Atlantis: I really liked "Sanctuary", and "Thirty Eight Minutes" is my favorite episode of all time... of anything. IMO, it's science fiction at its best!

I like 38 minutes very much... I didn't think it was that hated... or unpopular...
I have a deep and abiding fondness for claustrophobic situations... hehehe... The build up of tension comes from the acting than from lots of movement, which is harder to achieve. I thought the actors did a terrific job.

I agree with all you said there, and if it is a hated ep, then that would be my pick for SGA, cos that is probably one of my favourite episodes from Season 1...in fact, of SGA so far...

Sanctuary, Disclosure, Spirits, A Hundred Days, and Brief Candle were episodes that I really warmed to, especially A Hundred Days, for some reason I fell in love with it, but everyone has their own.

I haven't heard anyone bashing "Thirty Eight Minutes"; I just haven't heard of a terribly enthusiastic response. On the discussion thread for the ep, the general reaction was basically, "Yeah, it was pretty good". I, on the other hand, went nuts over it! Also, I was the last one to post there – back in mid-July. That's why I mentioned it here.
