oh crumbs... a suggestion ... well - being able to change your own thread title would be nice... a) to get rid of mis-spellings (though why people can't proof read before posting), and of course, personally, i recycle one of my game threads when each tournament finishes. Unfortunately it means every month or so i ask Tame for the name to be changed.
But hey, it's no biggy.

Can (or will) it be possible to set sig limits according to tier level? Maybe have folks start off at a minimum of space and gradually work their way up- though I wouldn't go bigger (or much bigger) than the current limit.
And/or see if there's a way to get vbulletin to refuse oversize sigs. Or resize them to fit current limits.
I stil think limits as a whole should be smaller, but it's just as easy to turn sigs off and avoid all the mess.
Cut down the number of emoticons you can use per post. That will prevent people from doing whole LINES of emoticons, which is kinda wasteful, IMO. To paraphrase Terry Pratchett: "Multiple emoticons. The sure sign of a deranged mind."

I like the idea, it would prevent people joining the forum and have a banner that is way to big, size and file size. I think there is a way to set the maximum size on the image within a signature and to refuse banners that are over the limit but I believe that its only available in the next version of vbulletin.Originally Posted by ShadowMaat
Within the new version of Vbullitin the forum will get automatic resizing of images and group sig rules.
Question to darren, with the new VB having so many of the latest features dependant of group rule will you finally implement the group system to GW? It could tie in with the Officer class surgeston, if you created an officer group with group permission for example..

How about a count down timer to the next air date and time of SG1 + Atlantis?
Maybe fit it in somewhere on the main page...
if anything, we need less icons/emoticons.
a lot less.
a lot a lot lot lot less.
i think smileys are the best thing in the world, they break up the text and add personallity and emotion to peoples work. I think without smileys forums are a much more informal place.

"guilty" i did that at one time or another, but its only been a couple of times, i think smileys are needed to break up the flowing text, however interesting you need to see a smiley at some point or it just gets tedious.

Its unnessicary though, smileys are a part of Gw and forums all over the net, i dont think a forum without smileys is a nice place to hang out, and we just got all those lovely SG orientated ones. Limit smileys is like say we shouldnt have thread icons or punctuation, because smileys are a form of punctuation im alot of cases.

No smileys? That's silliness. Without it, no one would know when anyone was joking. I've lost count at the number of times i've made an empty threat in jest and been thankful for the "" at the end to ensure someone knows i'm joking...
Limiting though, that's a completely different kettle of fish. I only use 3 max in a post anyway. Then again, i try not to repeat any so use them sparingly and for comic effect rather than punctuation... maybe that's just me. *shrugs*

As to excessive punctuation, it can serve a purpose when used very sparingly for the purpose of a joke. But yeah, in general it's overused.Originally Posted by Capt.Mal Reynolds

I vote for the spell check feature. Yes, I could use Word, but since I already spend many, many hours of my life in Word, I don't want to see it anymore when I come to Gateworld.
I like the smilies. I wish that we could personalize which of the 10 out of the 1000 were on the right hand side of the page though. Since I'm not watching SGA anymore, those smilies are a waste for me.
Perhaps we could add the idea of not overusing emoticons into the information for new posters, just as we teach people not to type in all caps.
if you want spall check just down load IE spell http://www.iespell.com/index.htm and click on this boxOriginally Posted by MasySyma

pretty sure he meant having an option that just lets you hide them, like having avatars and signatures turned off, like i do.Originally Posted by Anubis69

Can we make the PM character limit larger? 2000 isn't enough. No I don't have any idea what email is.
