Nick felt his face get warm, "You can't go where I need to go. And I haven't needed help in A LOT of years."

Kate scrunched up her face and blushed furiously. "I... ah... umm... yes, well," she looked over her shoulder. "Honey, feel like rescuing me any time soon?" she turned back to the General, the flush receding slightly. "I would go find her, but...." Kate shrugged, knowing she'd get lynched for leaving the bed.

Steele laid down some test results and looked at her patients. "I'll release you to go to the restroom, General, but don't even think about sneaking to your office and getting work done with a busted hand." Dr. Steele paused and looked at Cal. "You'd better not let him either."

Jim was standing behind Kate, his arms crossed now, instead of hanging behind him.
"Oh, and how exactly am I supposed to do that?" To her request with a small grin on his face.

However, Jims' reactions from before was still skeptic, he had seen how Kate had reacted around Larry, something had happened that neither one of them wanted anyone to know about.

Fortunately, Jim's better judgment had stopped him from saying anything about it, and he had decided to let it drop.
For the moment.

Then, there was the cadet, who had come in shivering and with tears in her eyes, he had remained in Kates' bed for the duration of it, deciding to let them settle things for themselves.

Judging from the look on Kates' face that had appeared, he was right to do so.
As such, he had more or less kept to himself or Kate the entire time, however he was regretting it a little now for he felt like he had missed out on a few tidbits he could have participated in.

So much had happened in that one night and now early morning.

Almost all of SG-7 was in the infirmary, and he was generally worried, yet still a little angry for what he had done to Rowena, at and for Richard.

He had in Jims' opinion got himself into allot of trouble and would most likely need Jims help.
Jim looked at Doctor Steele that come over and was now glaring at Kate, the General and slightly at Jim.

Jim chuckled and looked towards Kate affectionately.
He moved up behind her slightly and took her right hand in his left, and stood there facing the general.

((Ah, sorry about that. Because you've not been online recently and it's been the holidays, my whole body clock has been messed... I've been getting up at 4pm ish and going to bed about 8-9am I'll stay up for you today though. And Richard asking for Jim's advice on women? Can't wait for this one!))

Kate flinched slightly when Jim took her hand and pulled it away, tangling her fingers together in her lap. She felt strangely uncomfortable letting Jim touch her, not with Larry there and the General watching.

She couldn't understand the reaction, didn't know what was happening to her. The public affection had never bothered her before, even when the General was there. She pivoted a little and looked at Jim, tentatively reaching one hand out to his in apology.

Steele laid down some test results and looked at her patients. "I'll release you to go to the restroom, General, but don't even think about sneaking to your office and getting work done with a busted hand." Dr. Steele paused and looked at Cal. "You'd better not let him either."

"Yes Ma'am," Cal shook her head quickly, "I mean, no Ma'am."
She looked an Blue in the hospital PJ's and robe. "Besides, he's doesn't have the key."
Nick gave her a look, "I don't even have a pocket." He wobbled his way across the room and out the door.
Cal casually followed far enough to look down the hall after the General. "Just in case," she explained.

Richard walked into the infirmary, poking his head in to make sure he didn't walk in on Lancaster first. The last thing he needed was to be suprised by the aging psycologist right now. 'Larry? What the h*** is he doing here?' He almost froze when Steele started to walk over, a scowl on her face.

Steele locked her eyes on Lt. Dobson. "You're here to see Major Howard, I presume? I'll allow it, since I don't want you making yourself sick to get in here too." Steele took a seat at her desk, returning her attention to the test results.

He wiped his brow and moved over to Kate's bed. "So, how's the head?" He gave a warm smile.

Kate rolled onto her knees and flung her arms round Richard, relieved on two counts, firstly that someone was there to break the tension and second that he hadn't done anything stupid. She clung onto him tightly, burying her face in his neck.

"I was so worried about you," she told him, still holding him. "I... I know you've lost a lot and then..... you don't realise how relieved I am to see you, Richard."

He returned the hug gratefully. "I'm glad to see you to Kate." He laughed. "I assume Rowena came in here then? It would explain why she was in your quarters." He shook his head. "Wait, relieved? Why?"

[Tracy Jane]

"I... was worried about you," Kate said, trying to be tactful. "I know you've had a tough run of things-" she flashed a look at Jim, unsure of how much she could say around him, "-and I was worried that this... stuff... with Rowena might...." she shrugged uncomfortably, not really want to go into any more detail. "But it didn't, so it's cool. I wanted to chat to you, though."

"Ok, well I'm here." He forced an awkward smile. "So what did you want to talk about?" He guessed what she had been getting and decided to stay off that topic, best not to delve into such things with so many around.

She looked at Jim and stood up, moving to the next bed along, Richard in her wake. She deftly pulled the curtain round it and sat down, patting it to get Richard to join her. "Thought we could do with the privacy."

He sat down, his voice taking on a slightly somber tone. "I'm going to assume this either has something to do with Rowena, or something to do with my... issues. I'd really like to know which before I dive into conversation Kate." He could only hope it was his rash actions with the cadet that had landed him in this situation.

Kate shuffled along to sit next to him on the bed, slipping her arms around his waist. "You know, I'm not so sure they're mutually exclusive, Richard," she sighed, smiling weakly at the young man. "Rowena's still young and doesn't understand what you've been through, why you might be uncomfortable and want to take it slowly." She frowned as she remembered the cadet's visit. "The thing is, you've inadvertantly sent her some mixed messages. There's this idea that you don't want her, you're not attracted to her and she's just the rebound girl, and then on the other hand, she sees you racing to get her into bed, use her as some kind of baby machine. She's very confused, Richard."

"I never said I didn't want her, nor that I wasn't attracted to her, I did go a little... okay a lot overboard and blame her for dragging me in." He blushed. "I know that was idiotic of me but, she did kiss me first." He sighed. "As for the rebound girl thing, blame Hermione, remind me to never piss of a shrink again. Ya know, assuming the others weren't destroyed with earth." He paused, leaning slightly on the older woman, waiting for a response.

Kate felt him lean on her and tightened her arms around him, pulling him closer to her. "She's not all bad, she's just looking out for her little girl, that's all. I'm just worried it's too soon for you, Rich, after all you've been through." She gave him a quick squeeze then relaxed her grip somewhat. A curious expression played on her face as she let go completely. "Errrr... Rich.... what do you mean in my quarters?"

"Oh, yes. I went to your quarters earlier, hoping you had been discharged, Rowena answered the door. I apologised, and I think I got through to her." 'And that's al you need to know.' He shifted a little, hoping she didn't dig too deeply into that.

Kate raised an eyebrow at him. "There's more to this than you're telling me, Lieutenant Dobson," she said sternly. "Trust me, if I find something out later on, you'll be sorry, young man. Best to get it out in the open now."
