[Med Bay; hallway]
Kylie placed a hand on her forehead to feel a small fever beginning to take shape. She sat up as straight in her wheelchair as she could. Adjusted her t-shirt, and took a quick peek at the other side of the med bay. She saw one single other patient. A nurse was by his bed and they appeared to be involved in a conversation. It was now or never. She should be able to sneak out of the med bay just long enough to find Devin and let him know that she was ok. She pulled the curtain aside and with a strength that she didn't even know that she had, managed to wheel herself out of the med bay and into the hall. She saw Devin exactly where Mary had left him just seconds before. "Devin?" she said softly to get his attention.
[Dr. Steele's office]
Mary knocked lightly on Dr. Steele's office and waited for a reply. "Yes?" came Julianna's voice from the other side of the door.
"Ma'am, I thought you should know that Kylie Stevens was just brought back into the infirmary. I have her in the med bay. She was complaining of adominal pain in her lower right side. I think it might be her appendix, but I don't know for sure." Mary explained quickly.
"Why didn't you come get me sooner? So help me, if those pains are anything remotely related to her earlier injuries..." Julianna sighed as she tried to rid herself of the momentary frustration. "I'm sorry, Mary. Let's go see what we can find out, shall we? Oh, and would you please page Dr. Svensson on the way? If this is at all related to her surgery, then I want her involved."
((Hehe, jailbreak.Couldn't resist.

Kylie reached out and forcefully took Devin's hand in one of hers, using the other one to turn his head so that he was looking right at her. "Devin, look at me! I don't have long until they find out that I snuck away. I need you, Devin. Please, just look at me." There was fear in Kylie's voice, fear that was laced with pain as she tried to get Devin to recognize her. She had finally found a rock and didn't want it to be torn away from her. She didn't want to be away from him, not even for a second. She took the only chance that she might get for awhile and leaned in to kiss Devin. She kissed him as deeply as possible, just needing to have him there.

"Oh. Hey." Devin said, pulling away after a minute. "When'd you get there?" Devin asked, slightly dazed by the passoinate kiss Kylie'd ambushed him with. "Because I could swear you weren't there a second ago. Oh, and have I ever told you that you're a sight for sore eyes?"
[Hallway]
Kylie continued to hold tightly to Devin. "Yeah, it's good seeing you too. I don't want you to leave me. I can't do this without you Devin. I need you. Please. Don't let them seperate us." Kylie's soft eyes pleaded with Devin. She leaned in to kiss him once more before he could respond. She was quickly becoming desperate, acting out of the shear fear that something would happen to one or both of them if they were seperated. She had no idea what was feeling her with the strong sense of dread, but knew that she didn't want to seperated from Devin for even a second. She could handle whatever came her way as long as he was there with her, but without him, she was lost. She tried fighting the building emotional panic to no avail. It would be compromising to the team if she was still acting like this on missions, but she wasn't on a mission now, and the desire to be with Devin was the only thing that she could think about just then.

By now, Devin's arms had wrapped themselves across Kylie's back, and he was returning just as much passion as Kylie was giving. The biggest risk right now was that someone would eventually come along and see them, but then, Devin really didn't care, as the woman in front of him had dominated his thoughts and rendered him unable to think or care of the consequences. When Devin finally managed to pull out of the embrace, he said, "I don't think I can go on without you either, and I'll do my best to stay with you as long as I can."
[Hallway, Multiple POVs]
Kylie was greatful for Devin's promise, and clung to him like she was afraid he would be washed away with the tide in the stormy waters that seemed to surround her. She kept one arm wrapped around Devin, and used the other one to hold her side as another spasm of pain hit her. "I'm fine." she assured him before he could even react to her grimace. "Now kiss me." Her voice was shallow and breathy as she once more captured Devin's lips with her own.
Julianna's eyes widened as she realized what she was seeing. Mary had already turned off in the other direction to page Carrie, so she was going to have to deal with this latest situation on her own. Walking directly to Devin and Kylie, who happened to be embracing and kissing at the time, she cleared her throat loudly. "Ms. Stevens, I don't what possessed you to leave the med bay, but you need to go back in there, right now, so that I can examine you and find out what's wrong! That is doctor's orders! NOW GO!" Julianna's head snapped toward Devin. "As for you Dr. Almodeus, I think that it would be best for everyone if I had someone escort you back your quarters! You being in here is only serving as a distraction to Kylie! I can't help her if you are in the way!" She sighed as her outburst seemed to come to an end.
Kylie refused to let go of Devin, holding him ever tighter to herself. She raised her voice to match and exceed the volume that Dr. Steele had used. "NO, I want Devin with me! I won't leave him! I need him with me! I can't do it without him! He can't go, I need him!" Kylie eyes started to fill with tears, as she clinged to Devin like a piece of stubborn duck tape that had stuck to itself.
"Ms. Stevens!" Julianna became aware of her raised voice and lowered it to a calmer level. "Kylie, I will sedate you if it becomes necessary. Please, I need to examine you, and I understand your reluctance to leave Devin, but there's simply not enough room in there to have him beside you all the time." Noticing that Kylie wasn't about to change her mind and let go of Devin any time soon, she reached for the syringe that she carried that was filled with a lite sedative. It would be just enough to calm her down. She held the needle out for both Kylie and Devin to see. She would give Devin a chance to try talking her down from whatever panic attack Kylie was experiencing before using the drug, but she wanted to be sure that they knew she wasn't bluffing.

Dr David Williams - Med Bay
Not believing his eyes, David stared at the scene unfolding in the hallway. From where he sat he had a very clear view of the whole thing, his line of sight was just right. He found himself getting embarrassed on Kylie's behalf, that was simply no way to behave in public - he had not known she had that streak inside her. She had seemed professional, before, but now he was re-examining his opinion of her.
He watched the doctor scold them, and then had enough. Disgusted, he pulled the curtain back so he would not have to see them anymore.
By this time, Julia had already left to her other duties. He had thanked her for all her help, upon which she had simply smiled and nodded. She had further told him that if he needed anything, all he had to do was press one of the buttons of the remote given him earlier.
David sighed forlornly, and reached for his laptop to do some work.
((That's his opinion.I find it highly amusing to read.
))
<<from Mess hall>>
Carrie swung the door open and stopped dead, not knowing what to believe;
Julianna, with a syringe in her hand, a crying woman in a wheelchair, desperately holding on to the man next to her.
“Julianna! What is going on here?”
[NPC Dr. Julianna Steele-Hallway]
Julianna was a little starteled by the voice, and looking toward, sighed in relief. She glanced one last time at the couple in front of her. "Alright, you two, you have exactly two minutes to start cooperating, or else."
Walking over to where Carrie stood, Julianna couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated over how this day was turning out. "Kylie Stevens. That's what's going on. She was injured in a rockslide earlier this week, the insuing infection may have caused some delayed re-actions. Devin brought her up when she started to complain about abdominal pains. I haven't had the chance to examine her myself, but from what Mary said, it looks like it could be appendicitis." She looked over her shoulder at the patient in question. "I don't know exactly what happened to get her like this. I was in my office when she came in. I caught her and Devin in a pretty heavy make out session when I came to see her. When I told her that I needed her back in the med bay to examine her, she paniked. Apparently the two of them have grown quite close and she doesn't want to leave him. That's what this is for. It may be the only way to get her to calm down." She indicated the syringe of sedative in her hand. Sighing, she looked at Carrie in a way that only doctors could.
<<Mess Hall>>
Adria came running out of the stairs and almost slipped. <That would be smart, running to the infirmary and screw my leg up again> She thought following Carrie. <If its kylie> Adria thought. <I'm going to tie her up in her room till she is healed from everything.> At that moment Adria swung herself into the room just in time to hear Kylie Stevens and let out a low groan. Looking up at the celling she said. "Give me patience." The look she was giving devin was that of disapointment.

[Med Bay] Dr David Williams
David couldn't help but listen to the voices outside. They were the only voices for now, and they carried all the way into the Med Bay. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, and vowed to have a nice little.... chat... with Kylie, sometime down the road, when all was better again. He pulled the curtain slightly away again, so he could see them, as the conversation was intriguing enough.
And he stared directly at Kylie, right into her distraught eyes. And it shocked him greatly what he saw there, laid bare for all to see, what else was going on ?!
Realising he was eavesdropping on something private, David quickly pulled the curtain back again. He laid back down on his bed, mulling over what had just happened.

Carrie looked down at the floor for a moment, and took a deep breath, then looked back up at Julianna, “Would you please put that syringe away” then motioned towards the waiting area with her head “and let’s get over there, out of earshot.”Once they got there, Carrie turned towards Julianna, almost whispered, with determination in her voice. “I’ve never been fond of sedatives and you know that, and what’s the big deal if she wants to have her boyfriend with her. I mean, look at her, she’s terrified, if he can make her feel more at ease, what difference does it make? We’re not exactly overcrowded at the moment. Come on, let me have a talk to her, lets see what I can do…”
Julianna put her hands up in a despondent gesture. “Fine, you can have her. She’s all yours. Good luck!”
“Thank you” Carrie gave her a cold smile and headed towards Kylie. She crouched down in front of her, about three feet away.
“Kylie? I just want to talk, OK? My name is Carrie, and I’m a doctor here. Now, can we please move away from the hallway, where everybody can see and hear us, and into the med bay. It’s OK if your boyfriend comes along, but it’s you, I want to talk to. What do you say?
[Hallway]
"Vwoot." Devin muttered, making the 'rock on' sign with his index and pinkie fingers. "And, by the way, I do have a name. Devin Almodeus, head of the science division." As Kylie continued to hold onto him, Devin said, "Now, we're going to start moving, and that won't be happening as long as you're holding onto me." Thinking back to his high-school days, Devin told Kylie, "Okay, remember Orpheus and Eurydice(sp?) from Greek mythology? How Orpheus had to trust that Eurydice was right behind him the whole time? I need you to trust me in that same way. Please, let go, and I'll follow you all the way to wherever you go."
[ Alien Organism lab ]
Gus drew in a deep breath, then let it out. "All right. But you just remember that technically- I *can* outrank you." His smile was tired. He started to speak again but paused when his pager began vibrating. "'Scuse me for a minute." He checked the code. "What in the world..." He turned back to Nick. "Give me a few. In the meantime- you think about when you'd like to do this. Presumably as soon as possible, for Janus's sake. I'll be right back."
With that, Gus headed out of the lab, following the sounds of voices raised in agitation echoing down the tile hallways. When he stepped out into the main corridor and took in the group of people in the hall near the med bay, he felt his blood pressure begin to rise. He strode toward the group, face dark as he overheard enough of the conversation to gather what was going on.
"ENOUGH!" he bellowed, causing everyone- Carrie, Julianna, Devin, Kylie, and several nurses hovering nearby- to jump. "Close the med bay doors. NOW." The nurses scurried to do his bidding and as soon as the door were closed he knelt down and looked Kylie in the eyes, lowering his voice to a gentle rumble. "Kylie, you have a choice: either go with Carrie willingly- ALONE- and submit to a full examination so we can figure out what's wrong, or I *will* sedate you so we can do so. Understand?" He stood and faced Carrie. "Carrie, get Kylie off the floor and into a recovery room. We can't take care of her in this condition with her boyfriend attached to her hip or any other body part." He turned to face Devin, expression thunderous. "Almodeus- OUT. NOW. Before I call security and have you confined to the brig for interfering in the treatment of a patient. If I see you within the confines of this Infirmary and you're not unconscious, bleeding severely, or suffering in some other way, shape, or form, rest assured I will inflict one of those conditions on you myself. That is an order. I will let you know when you are allowed back."
He looked from one person to another. "Dismissed." As everyone scattered, he shook his head and stalked back down the hallway to the Alien Organism lab. Re-entering and closing the door behind him, he looked at Nick and sighed heavily.
"I think Jensen had the right idea, running away from all this insanity," he grumbled crankily.

[Hallway]
Kylie was barely aware of everything going on around her. She didn't notice David as he looked on, observing the scene that was unfolding in the hallway. She didn't notice the other doctor approach and pull Julianna off to one side. She didn't notice Adria lurking a few steps behind, obseving the show as well. What she did notice was Devin and the soreness of her side. She saw only his face, meeting his eyes, unaware that the terror she felt on the inside was displayed across her face. She had just found someone that she trusted, and she didn't want him to leave, or be forced to leave him.
Kylie looked at the other doctor for a moment, visually calming herself at hearing the words. Devin could stay, she wouldn't be sedated. Just talk. Ok. That didn't sound too painful, or too difficult, as long as Devin was there. She realized that she hadn't said anything allowed, then realized that her throat was sore from all her crying. Instead, she simply took a deep breath and nodded her head.
Kylie did remember the myth, very well. It had always been one of her favorites. She still clung tightly to Devin, not wanting to let go of him, but knew that he was right. She did need to let go, and she did trust him. Trusted him with her life. Again, her voice failed her, so she simply nodded once more to let Devin know it was ok. Slowly, she started to release her hold on him, allowing him some mobilty, but not yet letting go completely. A silent tear rolled down her cheek, but the fear that had been in her eyes before was nearly dissapated. She let go completly and sighed, knowing that Devin wouldn't leave her for anything.
Kylie quickly latched back onto Devin at the sound of someone yelling behind her. She gripped him ever tighter as she recognized the white lab coat of a doctor. It was him, he had come back. He was here to get her, to tell her that the pain in her side was due to her own clumsiness, and he couldn't do anything for the pain. She burried her head in Devin's shoulder, afraid to look up at the new comer. At the sound of her name, she forced her head to turn to look at him, knowing it would just be worse for her if she didn't. Recognizing Dr. Aaronson, she breathed a sigh of relief. He had scared her, and he still looked like the evil Dr. from her childhood, but she knew that it was only Dr. Aaronson, and that his gentle hands would never purposefully hurt her or fail to help her. Fear filled her eyes again, knowing that the CMO had just declared that she would have to be alone for the next several hours, or for what seemed an eternity to her. She started to cry fearful tears, once more, but was in too fragile a state to say anything. She didn't want to leave Devin. She couldn't leave Devin. She used all of her will power to pull Devin back closer to her. Holding tightly to him, she watched as the hallway emptied of everyone except herself, Carrie, and Devin. She turned pleading eyes to Carrie. "Don't make me leave him. Please, I can't do this without him. I given all the trust I ever had to him. I can't....." Her voice cracked as several more tears cascaded down her cheeks. She turned back toward Devin, who was currently inmobile due to her tight hold. "Don't leave Devin, please. You can't. I need you." Looking between the two, she waited for what she knew would most likely be a small prick as she was injected with a sedative so that Carrie could examine her.

"Doctor Aaronson." Devin began simply, speaking to the air, despite knowing fulll well Aaronson was there. "Have you ever been raped?" Devin's face was deadpan as Kylie held onto him. "Have you, ever been stabbed in the stomach with a pencil before? No? How about beaten by step parents? Forced to drain an abscess with a rusty spoon?" Gently removing Kylie's arms from around him, Devin walked over to look at where Aaronson had stood. Lowering his voice, Devin asked with thinly disguised contempt, "Have you ever been so desperate for something, some one to hold on to that once you did, you never wanted to let go? Once you've gone through that special level of Dante's Inferno, then you can yell at me and Ky. Not before."
