There really is life after "Star Trek."
That's the word from Kate Mulgrew, who for six seasons played Capt. Kathryn Janeway on "Star Trek: Voyager."
Unlike some actors who found themselves irreversibly stuck in the public's mind as a character from one of the many Star Trek franchises, Mulgrew -- who appears this weekend at Creation Entertainment's fourth annual Official Star Trek Convention at the Las Vegas Hilton -- has been able to move on, professionally and personally.
During a recent telephone interview with the actress, who is gearing up for a run of "Tea at Five," her one-woman play about Katherine Hepburn that opens later this month at the Pasadena, Calif., Playhouse, Mulgrew talked about her personal journey, and, of course, "Voyager."
Having just returned from five weeks of driving around Ireland with her son, Mulgrew said her life has changed.
