Thread: Making priors/doci

    Default Making priors/doci

Has anyone wondered how the prior and doci came to be? I think i read somewhere on the board about genetic experiments or what not. But watching Origin, and seeing what happens to the administrator at the end makes me think thats how the Ori create their all powerful emissaries

I figured that was how the Doci were made, too. The administrator seemed to be more like a Doci than a Prior to me, anyway, so maybe the Doci are made through contact with the Ori and the Priors are made through genetic experimentation or something. I'm definitely hoping TPTB follow up on that and give us more information about the inner workings of the Ori.

On a bit of a tangent, what's up with the puckered marks on the Doci and Priors' faces? I thought that either the Ori "brand" them as their official servants by using their powers to burn ceremonial symbols into their faces or they do it themselves. Self-mutilation isn't unprecedented as a means of showing your piety.

They probably give humans a DNA-change as well as a minor brain wash

I don't know, the administrator didn't seem to be in need of any brainwashing. Plus, any brainwashing would be unraveled with their higher understanding of the universe once they ascend, which is the Ori's ultimate goal with all of their followers.

Yes, but there's the risk that when they ascend and gain all knowledge they might change their mind. Much better to brain wash them(some more) so ensure their loyal support in the eventual ascended war. We don't know if it's possible to regain your original way of thought if you're brainwashed and ascended.

Not so, in my opinion. I'd be much more confident about ascending a guy who dedicated himself to me 100% without brainwashing. Once he ascends, he'll still have the same feelings. You can't guarantee that brainwashing will always stay in place.

Yeah but would you want to ascend people who might stab you in the back?

Well it's kinda hard to talk about a subject we know nothing about. We have no idea if brainwashing work, if one can read another ascended beings mind...

Um... no, which is why I'd want them to devote themselves to me completely of their own free will. Honest devotion breeds less betrayal than artificial devotion through brainwashing, in my opinion. Religious fanatics very rarely turn on their gods, no matter how much evidence is presented to them.

Agreed. As with everything else, we'll just have to wait and see.

If I had to guess what happened to the administrator, given his deadpan delivery and vacuous expression, I'd say the Orii probably fried whatever part of his brain that allowed him to feel certain emotions, basically removing much of his humanity.

The priors look very pale, maybe they're not really alive anymore.

Is it just me or does the doci's skin mutilation above his left eye look like Chakotay's facial tatoo?

ROFL!!! I just burst out laughing as soon as I read that... so true..!

I think the guy looked more like a Prior than a Doci. I think he was 'artificially' advanced by the Ori, so that he'd have the powers of a genetically advanced human. This is probably how they create all their Priors and Doci. Also, I think the administrator was just the first of many, many more. The Doci told him that they were going to train armies, and build starships to mount a crusade against our galaxy, and possibly even Pegasus if they learn of it. Then of course, they needed to create more Priors because they are jumping up their missionary work by sending a vanguard of Priors to our galaxy to try and convert as many possible already here. Meaning they'd automatically get support bases without having to even fight for them. Beyond that, I suspect that the new Priors (and maybe new Doci's) will be commanding the enemy fleets we'll eventually be facing. Daniel was right... a Crusade is coming. I think that Senator was right to want to build up Earth's Battlecruiser fleet. Of course, I don't think that anything should be taken from the SGC either... we still need to find all the tech and allies we can against the impending threat. That Asgard tech will come in handy more and more now...

Speaking of Tech... consider this... The Ori Armadas that will be coming to our galaxy will be using Ancient Technology, because the Ori themselves were just another branch of the Ancients. That is scary. We saw that they had the Ancients Transport Rings, so there is ZERO reason to think they don't have all the other tech the ancients had. Even Anubis, was not so well armed... Countless fanatic troops, and Ancient technology to back them up... Daniel had every reason to be scared. I would be.
