I'm afraid the Dex guy is not settling in very well for me.

I've got to agree with you completely! All of Me was one of my favorite movies and I couldn't help but compare McKay's hallway scene with Steve Martin's sidewalk scene--Mr. Martin just did it sooo much better. That said, I really thought David Hewlett was just wonderful in the scenes where after McKay slept, Cadman took over his body. From the moment he (she) woke up to the moment they(?) walked out of the medical lab he just nailed the characterization. *sigh* It wouldn't surprise me at all if David Hewlitt got overlooked for an emmy. Steve Martin lost an Oscar (for his role in All of Me) to someone I can't even remember--it wouldn't have rankled quite so bad if he'd lost to Harrison Ford (for his role in Witness) who was also up for the award that year. Oh well, I digress.

I'm also not loving Dex. Please, the whole scene in the cafeteria was disgusting and not quite believable--they didn't have eating utensils in the military on Dex's homeworld? Also, what's with the one or two word pieces of dialog? Are they afraid he can't handle longer sentences? I must admit, though, that his scenes with Teyla show potential. I'm trying to reserve judgement for now, but so far I'm not too impressed.

I do have a continuity question. They seemed awfully anxious that the Wraith dart didn't leave the planet after it had seen them. Why weren't they concerned in the last episode when Ford was taken? Doesn't the same concern hold? If they were worried about blowing Atlantis' cover this episode, why weren't they concerned last episode? Or am I missing something?

I am so blessed! Cherriey made this cool sig; scarimor made this great Dr. Lee smilie and Spudster made another neat one Dr. Lee RULES!

I really enjoyed this episode. The performances were top notch. Kudos to David Hewlett, Paul McGillion, David Nykil and the guest star to the show (and McKay's brain) Jaime Ray Newman. Please bring her back. She'd be a strong personality to contrast with Sheppard and she loooves Dr. Beckett. Skilled comic writing by Martin Gero. I missed the director, but great job all around. It was funny, funny, funny.

The scenes with Ronan dragged except for the fighting drill. I know it was choreographed with stuntmen, but I can see his skill and I'm impressed.

I believe this episode hit on all cylinders. DH did a fantastic job.
        That's it!!

I was trying to think of the name of that Steve Martin movie while watching
this episode. Steve did a wonderful job as a man with woman inside him who
was trying to act like a man. (Whew!)

I really enjoyed McKay in this episode. Fortunately, the woman inside him
was only being a woman, most of the time. I'm glad Hewlett didn't totally
exaggerate the feminine stereotypical stuff -- not too much sashaying or
prissiness, fixing makeup and Valley-girl speak and all that. DH did a fine job.
I especially liked the hallway scene, when she was trying to drag him
somewhere he did not want to go. That was priceless.

OK. I never used to like McKay. But he's really grown on me. I've finally
realized I'm a McKay fan! I like him when he's helpless (which is
actually most of the time, isn't it?)

I kind of like the new guy, too. He speaks so matter-of-factly. Not like
"I'm super-macho and I know it." He's comfortable in his (delectable) skin.
I hope Ronon and Shep become good buddies.

On the contrary, my opinion is that Hewlett not playing it quite so broadly as Martin did was a smart acting and directorial choice.

Playing it just like All of Me would have been just too obvious and jolted us out of 'story' into watching it become parody...or homage.

I adore All of Me (and another of Steve Martin's films, Parenthood, is in my top 10 list) and it's been far too long since I've seen it.

Um, she didn't hold that posture the whole scene.

She was doing stretches when he came by, and interrupted. When he entered, she changed her position. When she told him to sit, she shifted a little bit again.

When your that athletic and active, you tend to stretch a lot as a cool down. She was like that for maybe ten seconds, big deal.

Great episode, laughing like crazy the entire time. Loved Beckett's and McKay's reaction after the kiss, both looked so horrified, it was great.

I really enjoyed Duet. It was great. While McKay has been a little over the top this season, he was spot on in this episode. Love the interaction between him and Zelenka and playing against the voice in his mind was fantastic. It could have been very, very ...well, stupid, but it wasn't.

I know everyone has been raving about "The Kiss" but my favorite part was when McKay was with Carson in the lab. The looks on Carson's face had me ROFLMAO because you knew he knew that something was not quite right and he couldn't figure out what. His reaction to when was McKay patting him on the hand was priceless - I damn near died. I had to watch it again just to get the dialog in the scene I was laughing so hard. Wonderful.

Really like Ronon's 'talk" with Weir. She tried to pull that "I so value you" political/corporate double-speak crap on him and he just said, "OK" and left her standing there unable to play the great administrator. He was so very unimpressed and so very elegant and polite doing so that it made her look rather silly. She's got to realize that everyone's not going to fall for that pretentious Washington insider superiority attitude especially people from other worlds. I like Weir the best when she relaxes and loses all of that.

The one negative point I have about the show is the fact that Ronon was very accomplished with any and all kinds of weapons, but yet eats very messily with his hands. What's with this noble savage stuff? That's so old and so very out of character. I was actually very insulted for the character. That added nothing and was really a bad move on the part of the writers. I hope we won't have a repeat of that type of thing anymore.

Shep was great although a little too protective of Teyla. After all, the woman kicked his butt in that same type of practice. Enjoyed the almost little kid eagerness about getting Weir to say he could 'keep' Ronon. Very cute. Zelenka was fantastic this week. Glad to see him coming more to the fore.

Overall, a very good episode. I enjoyed it very much.

I thought SGA's eps. last night was really funny, and I like the way there were two parts to it; McKay and the new dude.

The McKay part was funny. I thought the Lt. in his head was a lot like the Dr. from BSG with #6 in his head. That would be so weird to have a girl in your head.

I think the one kiss at the end was sick.

                    Any other others thoughts?

Maybe Shep suffers from some kind of hero complex where every woman needs to be saved. I get that they're friends and all but Teyla can hold her own.

I really loved this episode...really great I laughed sooooooo hard. McKay was great or should I say David was great, Very funny. I really hope Cadman comes back in more episodes please, I really liked her and I would like to see if she becomes a friend with McKay after their ordeal, and I would like to see if Beckett and her form a relationship, that would be nice. I also liked Ronon in this episode.

Wow. I actually liked this episode more than I thought I would. Thank you David Hewlett. The acting was superb and was what really sold the episode for me. I wasn’t very excited about the premise of the episode when I first read about it, and I really wasn’t looking forward to “the kiss.” I was apprehensive and figured it and the rest of the episode was just going to be too slap-stick. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Though since this was a fun episode, you get the happy ending. I actually could have gone more for the unhappy ending resulting in Cadman’s death, but I’m not the writer………. Great job anyway, MG.

Hehe. Shep’s little “my worst nightmare” comment. Actually that is the episode I would have paid to have seen instead.

Liked the Shep/Ronan scene in the mess hall, but eh, didn’t really care for much of Ronan’s other scenes. More filler than substance for me. *shrug*

David was doing a great job distinguishing between the two and I don't think they needed to do that - too distracting.
I didn’t like that either. Plus I didn’t like the psychologist. I didn’t really like her last season course that could just because I don’t like psychologists in real life so I’m biased. Sorry if any of you happen to be psychologists.

You don't know any psychologists that you like?

Or you don't like them because they are psychologists?

Sorry to be psychoanalyzing you. It just seems to be an extraordinary thing to say.

Perhaps, someday, you will just watch an episode of Atlantis without saying "Oh, this is like Enterprise" or "This is like Indiana Jones" or "This is like [insert show or movie here]"

And besides? Indiana Jones never had that line.

You might recall this big old honking thing called the Daedalus that has come to Atlantis at least twice now. Once Atlantis got the ZPM they could also gate back to Earth.

It wasn't shown explicitly but I think it's a safe bet that by way of the Daedalus or the gate, Atlantis was resupplied with food, medical supplies, tradeables, clothes, equipment, ammo, weapons, and ....personal stuff.

Either that or they have The Mattress Firm in the Pegasus Galaxy.
