You know when they go offworld and when they come back to the DHD they now which is the Point of Origin because its different, but heres what gets me when they press one which is on ALL the DHD and it has been done, how do they know which one to press??

i forget which episode, but in one of them, they said that the point of origin is the symbol that is unique to just one gate, so no other gate DHD has that symbol. now that i think about it, carter said something like this in s1's Solitudes, when she found the PoO on the antarctic gate.ROFLMAO Check This Out!!!

It's kinda like the whole everyone speaks English thing, it would get old in an hour long TV show, minus commercials of course, if 15 minutes were always dedicated to translation, it would get very old.
The thing that makes most since is to assume our physics has advanced to the point where we can calculate what the symbols based on a scan of the symbols on the other side of the gate when the remote device scans the DHD and possibly even the night sky. Then use the process of elimination to find the left over symbol that is not a constellation.
