Default The wraith's knowledge of ancient tech

How much do the wraith know about ancient tech? They seem to know alot more then us. The keeper in rising recognized the "life signs detector". The 10,000 year old wraith in un well the episode with him. Wired up a PJ shield pretty easily. But he didn't know that he couldn't fly it? How much do the wraith really know about ancient tech?

probably a lot. im sure they captured a hell of a lot of tech as they beat back the Ancients across the galaxy. plus there has been the implication that the Ancients and wraith are more closely related than originally thought and its possible Wraith technology is Adapted from or based off of Ancient technology.

I wouldn't doubt it seeing how that wraith rewired that pj so fast.

Maybe he just got lucky. Look how fast Carter rewired that one PJ.

I don't think that the Wraith really know that much about Ancient technology, perhaps they really only know about the less sophisticated tech, or they probably would not need Atlantis to get to Earth, because Mckay and Zelenka didn't seem to have much trouble re-wiring a puddle jumper to suit their needs in "The Siege."

The know enough all the way up to the gene part. They don't understand it. That is way that one Wraith was so shocked to see Shep. with one of those locater devices. And the neglace that detects Ancients. They just an't figure out how to mimic the gene.

Considering the wraith were a match for the ancients, I wouldnt see why the wraith couldnt re wire anything they come across.

They also know enough to access the Stargates wireless network technology, as the Darts can remotly trigger the DHD/Stargate. Something only very advanced races such as the Ancients, Asgard, Nox and possibly the Goa'uld have shown an ability to do.

It's also interesting to note also that the space gate in Rising didn't even have a DHD visable in the vacinity. I wonder how they made that work for dial outs. Do darts hold all the same software etc that a DHD would which would essentially mean the Wraith can build a smaller DHD into their darts or were they just beaming their signals through a DHD or something else down on the planet?

"In the Pegasus Galaxy, not all Stargates require a D.H.D. to operate: Space-based gates are powered instead by three power nodes, and dialing is accessed by a panel on a ship. D.H.D.s on planets there, however, are very similar, but with a blue button in the center

Device approximately the width of a Stargate, apparently designed to power a gate placed in outer space in the absence of a dial-home device. Space gates are equipped with three nodes placed at 120 degree intervals around the gate's outer edge. They may also be equipped with thrusters, which maintain the position of a Stargate in space.
Each power node is likely equipped with an Ancient power cell, possibly even a long-lasting Zero Point Module -- as the millenia-old space gate network requires power to be able to function without attached D.H.D.s. Lights illuminate the devices as they gently spin the floating gate in a clockwise motion.

It is also likely that the power nodes themselves illuminate all nine chevrons on a Stargate in a greater effort to show that they are active and in-use. Whether this technology is Ancient is not known for certain, but it is likely that the Ancients placed the gates in outer space, and thus equipped them with long-lasting power sources.
    KEY EPISODE(S) -
Rising, Part 1 - Sheppard and his team witness, for the first time, a Stargate deliberately placed in space, and held in-position by a trio of power nodes"

They could have got it from a downed PJ.

for the wraith to know about the ancient hand held life signs detector they had have one meaning they had to beam one up probably with a ancient using it or having one. best chance of that happening is if the ancient is outside when usually they are under a shield. giving more proof to a ancient army, that have foot soliders.

A lot of people think that the Wraith were made from the ancients, as they evolved they had ancient tech around them and learned how to use it.

Yea wraith tech looks very organic though.

it looks that way on the surface, but we have seen that undernieth the base technology is artificial. like when they accessed the wraith computer and got the data node. it looked rganic on the surface but underneith it was artificial materials. when mckay hot wired the wraith door he cut through an organic looking cover but underneith it was artificial.

That's cool I didn't know about the node thing. So the Wraith did figure out how to build their own "remote control" to activate it then. It's not as big an effort as making the whole DHD but it does show that they have a decent enough understanding of Ancient tech.

I have always thought the ancient "chair" as well as the "knowledge device" looked very organic-although Atlantis itself does not (different set designer i think) my point is I believe the direction the show will head is that the bugs from 38 Minutes absorbed and blended with ancients and much like a gould had access to their knowledge which led to an almost instant jump in technology. Perhaps the ancients used organic tech at some point (since the chair was already in existence and left beind on earth in "Rising". The atlantis control panels have always seemed to me to be "less advanced" then the chair so who knows
