Lightbulb New deal for the Asgard.......

How about this for a deal with the Asgard:

The Asgard are trying to rebuild their civilization right, and we want to built a fleet......what if the Asgard design a ship for us to build, thats Advanced, These ship then uphold the PPT and the Asgard can still use their own ships to help themselves.........we get good ships, the PPT is still active, the Asgard are able to rebuild.
    WIN/WIN right? comments?

You fail to realise that the producers wouldn't make money from the show that way now would they?

That would work besides the fact that Earth doesn't have enough materials to build an entire fleet.

Isnt that against the ppt to give a planet technology? When you say ppt you mean planet protection treaty right? That would be a good deal for us, but I dont think the asgard need help.

Well, the PPT is with the Goa'uld, correct? Honoring a treaty with them at this point would be like the U.S. honoring a treaty with the Third Reich or some other deposed leader.

For me the hitch is the assumtion that humanity could actually produce advanced vessels even if given the plans. Could shipbuilders of the 18th century produce Harrier Jets even if given the plans? You need the infrastructure, as well as the plans. Humaanity could be a hundred years gettinig their production facilities up to speed.

i agree, i mean earth has what, one facility capable of building Bc-303's , maybe two? how are we gonna start building advanced alien ships? especially with the stargate and all being secret still so all the shipments of naquada and trinium having to come through the gate slwoly one at a time. and given the Asgards production capabilities of being able to created matter out of energy "see thor making the weapon in "New Order") why would they waste time waiting for us to build ships. besides the asgard havent even tried to enforce the protected planets treaty ince the end of season 5, why would they care now?

I wonder if the Asgard will keep some technology back from Stargate humanity... they clearly have no "Prime Directive", but they might not share, for example, cloning technology and the ability to download a consciousness into a computer.

But suspending my disbelief... it would turn the premise of "Stargate" into something more akin to "Star Trek". Humanity, out there in the stars, with a fleet of ships.

It's been done before! I don't think Stargate, in any form, is going to survive without that big ring being at the center of almost every story.

im sure they have. at this point they have really only given us their versions of technology we had already acuired for ourselves. we has weapons, shields, hyperdrives, and ring transporters all based pretty much on goa'uld technology. they just gave us their versions of that technology. they havent given us cloning ot mind storage technology. they havent given us replication technology. and they havent given us much info on the galaxy as a whole, history, etc. so it seems hey want us to at least accomplish some advancement for ourselves to keep us from getting omplacent before they give us tech.

I'm sure Earth has many offowrld bases by now with the rite materials where they can build all their ships, I'm sure we'll be seeing an earth fleet sooner or later

the only actual off world base they have is the alpha site. they have a couple of long term minning operations and survey camps, but the only established base is the Alpha site

O.K. ... if you just hand them the technology in terms of plans, just how long do you think it would take WWII technology earth to gear up to 21st century technology in terms of jets, stealth, advanced composites, etc.? How about gearing up to a full computer age?

This isn't about just mining, it's about a revolution in technology. Even if you know where you are going before you start, it will take a while.

But again, all of this is moot. If you see a fleet of earth ships at the center of the plot, you can bet it is either a "future episode" or near the end of the Stargate franchise.

There is one was to solve the whole, resource/ship building problem:
the Asgard let us use on of thier own shipbuilding space ports/wharfs/ whateva they are called as well a provide say all the trinium for the systems while we provide the naquada. or something to that affect.
And the Asgard do need this, the PPT will be need to defend against priors and their forces; and the Asgard fleet it is thor ship, plus what we saw in new order + a few others, thats it, barley a dozen ships! and they need all of them to rebuild their empire.
    Immhotep

And yes this is all moot because its a hypothetical deal that i am proposing to help Things along in the ship department; because im a ship buff etc.....pipedream IOW.
