    Stargate 2010 (Predictions)

    Just following up another thread:

    If the SGC went public next month, there would be a lot to deal with. After the initial panic, rioting, and huge-@$$ partying, how would Earth be affected five years later? What would the Gate being used for? How would the world be better or worse off?

    (Not to be confused with the 2010 future involving the treacherous Aschen)

    One would hope that when the people of this planet realize that not only are we not alone in the universe, but we have some pretty powerful beings seriously pissed off at us...that we would finally be able to come together as a planet. Unite under one Earth banner, and all speak the same language, English (since it appears to be the offical language of the universe :-p )

    We would discard of petty differences at not call ourselves Americans, Russians, etc. But Earthlings (can we come up with a better term).

    The Stargate would become a symbol of unity for our world, and would be held in great reverence.

    *Now that I've gotten all the hippy-love-fest crap out of the way...the nations of the world would fight over control of the gate, and we'd destory ourselves, and the Goa'uld would just laugh at us.

    i think alot of religious wars, christians would get mad, almost all religions would get mad except the buhdist i think. but as time goes on and we except that their are other life and problems people may try to make their life worth something. it could unite the world working for the preservation of the human race. and id take the name tauri over earthling any day

    War everone would want the gate to the universe and would probably be pissed off that the USA Air Force have been using it for 9 years! it would porbable take a while before everyone understood what it out there

    Also in 5 years in the Stargate relm wouldnt be 2010 it would be different

    The following would happen:

    There would be rioting in the streets and the populace would demand full disclosure from the government. There wouldn't be a war between the world powers as most of them seem to know the secret but smaller governments would be pissed but couldn't do much and would be sullen and pissy towards the countries that knew… i.e. nothing would change.

    Terrorists would continue on as if nothing happened and would consider this secret further reason to attack the US and western countries... never mind Allah, whispering demons or other original thoughts/psychosis.

    The general population would mistrust the Asgard and our alliance with them and there would be much politicking regarding them due to the whole Roswell grey and the abductees who suddenly become perfectly sane and sound members of the general population people actually listen to.

    The new alien conspiracy theory would be that there are no aliens and that the government is making it all up to cover something more sinister.

    To settle the minds of the public, full or near full disclosure of everything that’s been going on would be required at which point all current officials in the program would be fired and replaced due to politics and the distortion of everything that’s gone on. All SG personnel would be approached with book deals.

    Church membership would dwindle, mosque membership, not so much.

    The shuttle program would be scrapped, on the other hand personal flights into space and investment therein would grow by leaps and bounds and scientific information would leak out into the scientific community if not actually revealed.

    Kim Jong Il would claim he’s a descendant of the Ancients or some other alien race.

    Saddam Hussein, if he hasn’t been executed by then, would claim the goa’uld made him do it... and if he isn’t around to do it someone else would.

    The Stargate would not be accessible to the general public for several years despite much public protests and the urges of new “experts” on the subject. The air force would get massive amounts of new recruits hoping for a chance to be in the Stargate Program.

    Wormhole physics and Stargate theory would be new majors at MIT and the like.

    The Trekkies would get greater respect.

    Reality: Bush or next president will give this speech

    We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war. I do not say the we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land or sea, but I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours.

    There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation many never come again. But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 70 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

    We choose to go to mars. We choose to go to mars in this decade and do the other things, not only because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.

    It is for these reasons that I regard the decision last year to shift our efforts in space from low to high gear as among the most important decisions that will be made during my incumbency in the office of the Presidency.

    Within these last 19 months at least 45 satellites have circled the earth. Some 40 of them were in the United States of America; and they were far more sophisticated and supplied far more knowledge to the people of the world than those of the Soviet Union. The Mariner spacecraft now on its way to Venus is the most intricate instrument in the history of space science. The accuracy of that shot is comparable to firing a missile from Cape Canaveral and dropping it in this stadium between the 40-yard lines.

    To be sure, we are behind, and will be behind for some time in manned flight. But we do not intend to stay behind, and in this decade, we shall make up and move ahead.

    The growth of our science and education will be enriched by new knowledge of our universe and environment, by new techniques of learning and mapping and observation, by new tools and computers for industry, medicine, the home as well as the school. Technical institutions, such as Rice, will reap the harvest of these gains.

    I am delighted that this university is playing a part in putting a man on the moon as part of a great national effort of the United States of America.

    Many years ago the great British explorer George Mallory, who was to die on Mount Everest, was asked why did he want to climb it. He said, it is there, well, space is there, and we're going to climb it, and the moon and the planets are there, and new hopes for knowledge and peace are there. And, therefore, as we set sail we ask God's blessing on the most hazardous and dangerous and greatest adventure on which man has ever embarked.

    Well the rest of the SG universe calls us Tau'ri so...

    My personal opinion is that if exposure of something like the Stargate at least gets us started on the road to world peace then nothing will!

    Not sure how it would affect religions(there's nothing in any religious books I know of that rules out alien life so...)

    Bin Laden would probably keep making noise so hopefully the Asgard will help out with finishing him off. The Asgard will also probably help end a variety of other conflicts thus earning the trust of a lot of Earth that way.

    NASA would still hang around but would get downsized big time for solar system exploration only.

    Tau'ri vs. Earthlings: No Contest

    With all the new technology that will be able to flood into the mainstream, the world will become less dependant on fossil fuels, and thus the middle east will lose its strangle hold on our wallets.

    The Asgard I think could help us with a lot of our problems, there would of course be inital resistance by the skeptics, but after they have gained our trust, it'll be all good.

    The Stargate going public would allow us to start a colony on another planet. I know some of you are thinking...Hey, without an established infastructure a colony would descend into utter chaos...oh no!! Relax Skippy, it's all been taken care of. Infastructure/Gov't would be put into place...and everything else we needed before the mass exodus could occur...so stop your whining :-p..hahaha

    We'll uncover a new Bin Laden tape, where his eyes glow...and everyone will go "I Knew he was a Goa'uld!!"

    And I could FINALLY reveal that I'm an Ancient hiding out on Earth...oh crap...pretend you didn't read that. haha

    I'm personally looking forward to having a puddle jumper or something similar parked in my driveway by then.

    Ok, I think that's a little too much. How about just a little more world peace and a frontier safety valve (Gate) to help anyone who wants to explore and settle other worlds.

    I do not think that people would riot. Although I do think a few people would be sent to mental hospitals. In five years from then I think that earth would continue getting people mad at them. They might even travel to another galaxy and get more people mad that atlantis already did. Eventually I think that the inevidibual will happen. This is that we get our solar system disinigrated by some evil woman that we pist off.

    i didn't actually mean riot but I lost my vocabulary for moment. What I really meant was organized protests demanding full disclosure.
