Does Earth have a P3X number?
Does Earth have a P3X number?
1....or 0.... or its a numbering system meant for off-world planets...like not earth![]()

"I was just looking at the sky, Trying to figure out how many stars we'd actually been to."
No Earth doesn't have a designation of any sort. At least not yet.
But one possible way to find out is to dig through the Ancient Database at Atlantis and see what designation (if any) the Ancients gave Earth when they catalogued Earth's coordinates into their stargate address database. Obviously this won't work for the Milky Way based stargate network.
How did the Ancients catalogue the planets. I don't ever remember hearing what they called other planets. Did they make up names for everyone? Or did they call it by the coordinates like in Lost City.Originally Posted by TechnoWraith

not sure the exact episode, but the ancianets assigned a certain sound to each symbol, the symbol for earth was "att"Originally Posted by SmartFox

like cry'she'ta'kra'mu'la'att (not an actual word from the show, just my example) would be a gate address and the gate addresses could be then spoken outloud and easily dialed up.
I don't believe Earth has one. That's because they know what the planet is and the P3X thing is what the computer designates a planet when it is accounting for planetary drift. They explained it at some point cause Jack was complaining about naming the planets.

I'm going on the assumption that the Ancients had a stargate address database. To get that database, they had to cataloug address in some way. Since Earth's gate was accessible from Atlantis, I'm assuming there's a gate address that will lead back to Earth. Just exactly how the ancients catalouged or named any of the addresses in their database is a mystery since we don't know yet. Maybe they will uncover and translate more of the ancient database in Season 2. If I'm not mistaken, don't some of the Atlantis team members know how to read Ancient to some degree?Originally Posted by SmartFox
Yes, i know Mckay does and Weir. I dont know how many others do.Originally Posted by TechnoWraith
Yea, Daniel's not special anymore, though he still is the only person that understands ancient in our own galaxy.
And that sound thing was right in Lost City. Prok la rush te o nas att. I'm not sure what the difference is between the P2X, P3X, P4X and P5X though?

- "I ask you. What could possibly be in my eye that would explain this?"
- "Lose it…it meant go crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of one’s faculties, three fries short of a happy meal….WACKO!"
- "I'm taking this loop off..."
- "Did they try the doughnuts? You made sure they were krispy kremes right?"
- "Carter, all I heard was matrix, and I found those films quite confusing."
- "I played Def Jam Vendetta."
The P2,3,4 and 5X deal comes from the SGC's dialing computer as it catalouged Stargate addresses. I don't exactly know the reasoning behind the way they used the P2X, P3X, etc., but those designations may have been for addresses catalouged in a general region of the milky way (like one region has P2X-4454, P2X-3122, etc., while another region has P3X-9994, P3X-8989, etc.) I don't really know. But that's my theory. Maybe this is something we can ask in the "Ask Joe" thread.Originally Posted by captain_kirk999
Earth does have an address, its 28-26-5-36-11-29. I dont think we'll ever know the P3X address for it, because if TPTB told us how to figure that out, we'd just nitpick 'gate addresses day after day.
JACKSON: ...I mean isn't that why we're doing this, all of this? The Stargate program, the budget? Isn't it so we can go and meet new races, gather advanced technology and possibly learn about ourselves in the process?
VALA: Oh, come on! you do it to meet women.
MITCHELL: She has a point, sir.
LANDRY: I've been thinking I need to get out on an offworld mission or two.
