SGA Season 4 Ratings
No numbers yet, but here's a beginning:
http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...er-1-2007.html
Well, the ratings are in for the Atlantis’s season premiere, Adrift, and it looks like Rob’s cold realism won out over Brad’s bright optimism. We’ve done better. On the other hand, we did very well in some key demographics. So, is this good or bad news? Uh, both? Sure, people will find different ways to spin it - some doom and gloom here, a silver lining there - but, at the end of the day, all that matters is did we get that fifth season pick-up or not? No word on that yet and I’m still hopeful but, just in case, I wonder if Fondy may need a stock boy at her pet boutique.
from JM's September 25th blog re ratings
Well, I’m hopeful. We’ve produced what I know is our best season yet, have the full support of the MGM and SciFi machines, and, despite the fact that we’re 1) up against a network premiere, 2) airing in the Fall against the new network shows, 3) still suffering from DVR/Tivo bleed-off, 4) finally returning with new episodes after a fairly long hiatus - I’m feeling confident I’ll be able to feed the dogs for one more year. And that confidence is mirrored in the writer’s room where we have kicked off our annual pre-season premiere ratings predictions with participants ranging from the coldly realistic Rob Cooper to the brightly optimistic Brad Wright -and everyone in between.

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
And what does that tell us? Nothing really. The ratings could of been anywhere from a 1.3 to a 1.7! What were they expecting? What is considered good? What is considered bad? I am so sick of this. Just renew the show because Flash is not going to save this network.

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
From Hollywood Reporter regarding the network competition on ADRIFT's premiere night
CBS continued its winning streak Friday with the season premiere of "Ghost Whisperer" (8.7 million, 2.4/9), which didn't have any serious competition for ratings against NBC's "Deal or No Deal" (7.4 million, 1.8/7), Fox's "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" (5.1 million, 1.4/5) or ABC's "Just For Laughs" (4.1 million, 1.1/4). "Ghost" was down from last year's season premiere of 10.3 million viewers and a 3.2/11, as was NBC's "Deal" (11.7 million, 3.4/12 on Sept. 22).
CBS won in the demo with the premiere of the vampire drama "Moonlight" (8.6 million, 2.5/8), though NBC won in viewership at 9 p.m. with the two-hour season premiere of "Las Vegas" (8.2 million, 2.4/8) and managed to edge out CBS' "Numbers" (9.2 million, 2.5/8) in both viewership and the demo at 10 p.m. Two hours of ABC's "20/20" didn't provide much competition, nor did Fox's repeat of "K-Ville."
"Moonlight" was down from last year's season premiere of "Close to Home" (11.9 million, 3.0/9). "Numbers" also was down from last year (11.3 million, 3.1/10).
However, in the 'good news' department - good, because ratings are down across the board so if SGA's #s are lower, so is everybody else's!
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...f6ec997ee75bd5
NEW YORK -- The first week of the 2007-08 TV season has left industry observers concerned about the absence of a breakout series.
Only two new shows, NBC's "Bionic Woman" and ABC's "Private Practice," have gotten out of the gate with enough ratings momentum to reach potential hit status.
Among returning series, such heavyweights as ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" remained dominant yet down from last year's heights. A few shows struck record premiere lows, including CBS' "CSI: Miami" and NBC's "ER."

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
If SGA got a 1.3 or 1.4 I am not worried anymore. It would pull it into the number one spot for the network or at least the top 3. From what Joe M said the ratings were not low or high but average. Heck, it could of gotten a 1.5, and they were just hoping for more, who knows.

Well, now that you reported that Eureka got a 1.2 last week, I feel a little relieved. It makes sense, given that Eureka was up against the premiere of House. And if SGA is this low or near this, it would also make sense, given the two-hour premiere of Los Vegas, and the premiere of Numbr3s (sp?).
My guess is that Scifi will wait and see how SGA does in the next few weeks, because the premiere week is unique?
I hope SGA at least has a rating similar to Eureka because it has been doing fairly well until this week, and did get renewed.

What's good about SGA, they can maintain their ratings and even rise during the season. I think a lot of people DVR'd last friday, and will hopefully watch live this friday. They said it was a big night for DVR/Tivo.

"Cable comings and goings
Showtime's Dexter (1 million viewers) and Brotherhood (371,000) and Sci Fi's Ghost Hunters (2 million) and Stargate: Atlantis (1.7 million) started new seasons."
Taken from http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...remieres_N.htm
To put the numbers in perspective, GH's two million viewers drew a 1.44.

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
Well, 1.2 does look to be not good, but then, Joe had this to say on today's blog:
Quote:
|
To all of you asking me to post the actual rating we received for our premiere - I can’t reveal that information because we don’t have a real number yet. What we have is the raw number before 3-day DVR is factored in
|
http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...er-2-2007.html
So that may be the "live" ratings.

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
Apparently USA Today disagrees with the 1.2 ratings...
http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...remieres_N.htm
Cable comings and goings
Showtime's Dexter (1 million viewers) and Brotherhood (371,000) and Sci Fi's Ghost Hunters (2 million) and Stargate: Atlantis (1.7 million) started new seasons. TBS' House of Payne (3.3 million) and VH1's Rock of Love (a big 5.4 million) ended theirs (except for Rock's reunion Sunday, 8 ET/PT).
Oops, see this got posted already!

Re: SGA Season 4 ratings
From what Joe said and from the way that MediaSavant explained the new "3 day commercial" ratings number, I would guess that SCI FI went ahead and used the Live (or "Live + Same Day," assuming it's still reported by Nielsen) in their press release. Since the release went out on Monday evening, the 3-day report wouldn't have been available to them quite yet.
According to the release, the 1.2 rating (rounded up or down, we don't know) = 1.698 million viewers, which would be where USA Today got the 1.7 million number.
