I would have asked him how can he consider "Unending" a "great tribute to the 10 years" without including Jack/RDA. And if there's some bad blood between them!

Maybe RDA hadn't got time or he didn't want to make more than 5 episode last year. So I think we should celebrate SG-1, look positive into the SG francise's future and we should not hurt the crew because of him.

RDA wanted all his 5 appearances this year to be on SG-1 (he wanted to tie up some loose ends). He was positively shell-shocked when they casted him on 3 "Atlantis" episodes. While "The Return" was pretty good, his role as an imaginary Jack on "The real world" sucked!

Maybe TPTB thought having him in 1/4 of the episodes in a season would be a sort of punch to the face of BB... Maybe.

Regardless, it was a great interview. I really do love these rare interviews with the guys at the top of the stargate ladder. Always enlightening.

He wasn't shellshocked. Please. You're exaggerating.

I'll listen to the interview as soon as I can, and from how things are looking, I can't freaking wait!!

Just listened to it. GREAT interview guys!

I am definately facinated by the whole Ark = media sentiment, and it makes perfect sense. It's not just TVs either, but the Internet as well. I mean, goodness knows how many rumors I've encountered that are completely crap, and yet so many people believe in it. It looks like the Ark relies on technology instead of just plain human ignorance.

Lightbulb Re: INTERVIEW: Robert C. Cooper (Executive Producer)

When I first heard about the Ark, I thought it was an interesting idea, now that I've learned from the interview how the Ark of Truth is a metaphor for television I think its a fascinating concept. I mean wow, you "program" the Ark with whatever you want and that's what the masses believe is the truth, whether it really is or not. I'm not like a conspiracy nut or angry cynic, but it is an awesome thing when something like SG-1 weaves social commentary into the fabric of the stargate mythos... and makes it so entertaining. Also I think Cooper's description of how there was a natural entropy to SG-1 as a ratings-getter, but that it worked way better and longer than anything the powers-that-be had expected really flies in the face of some folks' belief that the show lost quality in the last couple of seasons. No one actor, not even the great RDA is responsible for the quality of the show, writing, execution, etc. So I'm glad to hear an explanation of why the ratings fall-off wasn't proof of anything inherently going wrong, especially be it Browder and Black, who do a great job and probably even brought new fans into the fold.

Why doesn't anyone ever asked these guys about the Furlings?? It is probably the most sought after answer of all things Stargate and yet know one has a big enough pair to ask the Producer about them. Come on folks help all of us out who don't get to ask these questions.

These guys have been asked about the Furlings -- and given the answer -- so many times that if I'd done it, I'd probably have been swiftly escorted out of Rob's office and off the lot.

Default Re: INTERVIEW: Robert C. Cooper (Executive Producer)

As much as I want to see more SG-1, the thought of more Bori-themed episodes turns my stomach. The show began to bore me in the ninth season and the tenth, well, let's just say SG-1 was no longer something I had to watch and if I caught it fine, and if I didn't, no loss.

There isn't much suspense etc or interest if characters, good bad or indifferent don't have strengths and vulnerabilities. The Goa'uld and the Replicators were well written 'villains'. The Goa'uld had god-like powers (with the aid of technology), and the Replicators were many and looked insect-like. Who would want to be swarmed by them? The scenes where they were trying to overwhelm the SGC could make your skin crawl, particularly if you don't care for insects!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what weakness did the Ori have?? Where were they vulnerable?? My point is the Ori were boring before, and I don't see them getting any more interesting.

A lot of the fun of the original show was the chemistry between the original four characters plus the strong and familiar supporting cast ie Hammond/Frasier etc. While I don't mind Vala (actually wouldn't mind a little less Vala), I find BB and Landry and Lam characters I wish would just go away. If you don't have empathy for them or find them sympathetic, I don't see how you can find them interesting.

IMHO, the Ori are a poor choice as villain from the get-go, and I sincerely hope that TPTB find away to dispose of them in these movies. If not in these two movies then any other SG-1 vehicle that would come after.

The way I feel right now after reading the interview with RCC is that I'm unlikely to spend the $ on the DVD's if its going to be more Ori/Bori/Snori.
