55kb is the limit, been like that for ever since I got here. As far as I know animated gifs are allowed as long as the total size of your complete signature isn't above 55kb. Some people use animated gifs in there sig and that's all good, as long as the rules are respected. I don't see anywhere where it would say that animated gifs are not allowed or restricted (if you mean that people are unable to use them in their signature), as long as you respect Sky's rules:
http://forum.gateworld.net/showpost....50&postcount=1
ETA/
And as far as I know there isn't a post limit for having an animated sig in your signature.
There's a post limit of an average 2,000 post you have to cross before being able to have a custom avatar.

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
The reason behind animated gifs being banned in sigs is they tend to exceed the 50 KB limit. But its in sigs only. You can post animated gifs in posts

Depends on what episodes you are discussing and where. If you are posting in the general discussion thread for SGU's latest episode "Water," then you do not have to use spoiler tags for anything that happened in "Water" or in the episodes leading up to it. But if you discuss anything that you have heard/read/seen spoilers for from upcoming episodes... then yes, you need to use spoiler tags (preferably labeled with what episodes the spoilers are for).
Also, if discussing "Water" or other recent episodes outside of the subforums designated for those episodes, then you will still need to use spoiler tags.

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
i think, to use a gif you need to link to it from a place like photobucket or some other web source. the GW upload system doesn't allow for gifs, so they have to be hotlinked

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
Still need to be smaller in size than 55kb though, doesn't it? That's very tricky with these animated gifs.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
A sock, or sock puppet, is an account made on the forum by a person who already has an account - one (or more) account(s). There are several purposes/reasons, some are legit, others aren't.

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
If somebody has put you on ignore, do you get a message when you try to send a personal message to them? Or does the message just disappear somehow?

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
I don't think that's the case. As far as I know, putting someone on you ignore list only gives this:
So only the posts on the forum, in threads, are ignored. As far as I know that's the only effect. It is still possible for that user [The user who is on the ignore list of the other user, in this case you, Tinah, are on my ignore list, so you would still be able] to V.M. and/or P.M. you [me, in this case], I thought. Even greening, giving rep with comment, is still possible. Even when the user you've been ignoring posts the newest post in a thread, his or her name will still show up there as the newest post.
You can try if you like. I put you on ignore to test it, and I think the only effect is not seeing your post. You can try to V.M./P.M./green/contact/whatever you like, me and then I'll tell you what I get/see. Normally that should all still work.
However, do keep in mind that there are other options. Other users, not me, have restricted V.M./P.M. so that they can only get V.M.s or P.M.s from moderators, or from moderators and friends, and not everyone.

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
Tested with a green!
It's not that I'm planning to put somebody on my "ignore" list, I'm worried that somebody might have put me on hers... and I'm trying to find out, so I know where we stand. I'm sorry if this sounds... weird. But if somebody doesn't like me, I want to know, instead of just guessing. I did send her 2 PMs and didn't get any automated replies, do you always get automated replies when you can't send PMs to somebody for whatever reason?

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
Furthermore a person on ignore can green you. You just won't see the green message. Same for PM. The person can PM you but you just won't see it. Putting on ignore won't stop VMs though

Re: MEMBERS helping MEMBERS: General Help and Assistance Thread
Well, I'm sorry to say the green did not show up. The rep went up a point, but the comment did not show up.
Well then try P.M.ing me and you'll see what happens.
However, like I said it still shows you as the new post in this thread, see:
P.M./V.M. me and you'll see what happens, or otherwise I'll tell you.
