ISSUE #26
In this 100-page special dedicated to Team Atlantis, check out these exclusives:
SAY CHEESE!
Athosian Halling in a purple track top, Jason Momoa puckering up, Joe Flanigan kicking back with a guitar. It’s all there in the latest issue’s special treat to celebrate Stargate: Atlantis’ 100th episode. Check out our awesome gallery of photographs from behind the scenes of season five!
SET REPORT
Read the first part of an exclusive report direct from the Vancouver set of Stargate: Atlantis. Here’s a taster: Joe Flanigan, David Hewlett and Chris Heyerdahl [are] filming a scene for the penultimate episode of the season, Vegas. Written and directed by Rob Cooper, and subtitled CSI: Atlantis, the episode is something of a departure for the show. We stand in near total darkness while the scene is shot, and during a break in filming Joe and David both pop over to say hi, looking very dapper in their off-world garb. Not wanting to give too much away,

Re: Official Stargate Magazine Thread
I have an extra copy of issue #15 and issue #20 of "The Official Magazine - Stargate SG1 / Atlantis". I don't know how I managed to do that, but if anyone would like either one or both of these issues, please PM me with an address and I'll mail them to you (no charge). #15 issue is March/Apr 2007, the Atlantis Special with an interview with each of the main cast members and a group picture on the cover. #20 issue is Jan/Feb 2008 and has a picture of Paul McGillion on the cover and an article about Beckett's return to Atlantis. I would prefer to mail them within the continental U.S. rather than overseas.
EDIT: As of Dec. 25, both issues have been requested and I am mailing them tomorrow.

Re: Stargate Magazine
Yeah, I'll have to look into it. I think there was an offer for 3 issues for $19.99 in an add. That's not a bad price.
Incidentally the Indiana Jones magazine is really really neat!

A brief excerpt of the extract:
EXCLUSIVE CONTENT
An exclusive extract from an interview with David Hewlett (Rodney McKay), featuring in issue #26 of Stargate Magazine…
Stargate Magazine: Let’s talk about The Shrine. What an amazing episode!
David Hewlett: It’s really good. It was obviously a very McKay-centric script, as I think they all should be! Having said that, Brad Wright is great at writing for everybody, all his scripts have really nice moments – I think the Ronon moment was really nice. There were some really good opportunities for the rest of the cast to get in on that whole losing McKay thing, which you would think would be a happy thing! Other than the video footage stuff, I didn’t have much to say. Poor Keller ended up doing all the exposition.

In public, Sheppard’s always saying, “I don’t like that guy, I don’t trust that guy.” He protests too much – he’s Lady Macbeth, right?”

Stargate Official Magazine Issue #28:
At Titan Magazines:
NEWS
Five years of Stargate: Atlantis
An interview with Stargate: Atlantis writer Martin Gero is one of the highlights of the latest issue of Stargate Magazine, which looks back at five memorable seasons of the show over 100 pages. Here, Gero reminisces on the very early days:
“Brotherhood was the first one where it was my idea and I had to go figure it out. It was phenomenally complex. They all laughed because they knew how difficult it would be. I was young, stupid, and had a lot of time on my hands.”
Plus, we look to the future with all the latest buzz on Stargate Universe – check out below for all the details.

FEATURES
Bold New Directions: Stargate Universe
The latest Stargate spin-off, Stargate Universe – set to launch on the SCI FI Channel this fall – is now in production. In the latest issue of Stargate Magazine, we present a Beginner’s Guide to everything we know so far about the new show, from the concept to the cast. Co-producer Brad Wright explains the show’s genesis: “It has to feel like Stargate and it has to feel new. That’s the balance you have to maintain, and that’s the challenge. To put it in the simplest terms, if we had ever just done SG-2 as a series it would never have worked. It’s not the CSI model.”
Man of Many Worlds: Ryan Robbins
We talk to one of the most in-demand faces in sci-fi in the latest issue of Stargate Magazine – Ryan Robbins, the actor behind Stargate: Atlantis’ Ladon Radim and Sanctuary’s very different Henry Foss. He tells us about Ladon’s brush with death, and reveals why he will be forever grateful to director Martin Wood. Plus, we spend some time with the legendary Robert Davi. The actor behind John Sheppard’s nemesis, Genii menace Acastus Kolya, talks bad guys, song and dance routines, and The Goonies.
Virtually Possible: Mark Savela
We continue to take you behind-the-scenes on the final unforgettable season of Stargate: Atlantis in the latest issue. Visual effects genius Mark Savela completes his season five highlights in his own words, talking us through the challenges and achievements of Remnants through to Enemy at the Gate. Plus, if you’ve ever wondered what goes in to creating a Wraith, or aging Joe Flanigan, you’ll find the answers in the latest issue. Todd Masters, the physical effects mastermind of the whole Stargate franchise, reveals the tricks of his trade.
ISSUE SPOTLIGHT
Fantastic Journey
After 100 episodes over five seasons, and more fantastic moments than we can count, Stargate: Atlantis has seen its last credits roll. Info on new issue of Stargate Magazine
Stargate Magazine Issue 29
On-sale Now
Issue Spotlight:
Practical Magic
Explosives? Check. Water Cannon? Check. A slightly singed Richard Dean Anderson? Check. Bringing you the lowdown on the making of the shows in the Stargate franchise, Stargate Magazine interviews special effects coordinator Scott Stofer in the latest issue, and reveals the challenges of working on an SF TV show.
Features:
Robert Carlyle
The new issue features a major interview with the latest star of Stargate, Robert Carlyle. The British actor of The Full Monty and Trainspotting fame will play Dr. Nicholas Rush in the forthcoming spin-off Stargate Universe. He tells us about the Stargate Universe experience, and reveals all about his complex, mysterious character: “There’s nothing left for him on Earth. This is the best potential for exploration mankind has ever known. That’s what’s driving Rush, and therefore he’s probably not to be trusted by anyone on the crew.”
Michael Shanks
Stargate Magazine interviews a legend of the franchise in the latest issue. As well as looking forward to life beyond Stargate, Michael Shanks recalls his fondest memories from more than ten years on SG-1 playing the intrepid Daniel Jackson: “I always enjoyed playing the villains when Daniel was possessed or went bad himself. With villains, you can be a loose cannon and the most fun I’ve had playing one has been in Burn Notice. The character has no rules or guidelines, so you can behave a little more chaotically. As Victor, I got to chew a lot more scenery than I ever had before.”
Top 10 Devices
Part of Stargate Command’s mission was to retrieve alien technology that could be used to defend Earth from extra-terrestrial threats. So, which were the most useful alien devices the SG-1 found? Could it be the Ancient Knowledge Device (pictured left) that featured in The Fifth Race and The Lost City? The device certainly helped push humanity towards its ultimate destiny as the galaxy’s “fifth race,” but it was only really useful if you don’t mind your brain exploding after use! Find out where it features on our top ten countdown in the latest issue.

SGU Writing Team - Stargate Magazine #30
Stargate Magazine, Aug 27th, 2009
The following excerpt, featured in the latest issue of The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Magazine, begins with co-creator/executive producer Brad Wright explaining why the series opener Air took some creative engineering to pull off...
"Originally, the story was supposed to be a two-parter. That was the first production challenge," says Brad Wright. "Robert and I were writing this script together, which came out of a story we'd spun. He had put the story beats down and, as I tried to go through those beats, I realized that these scenes weren't little, they were huge. I struggled for a while to write certain parts of the script, and finally I emailed Rob and said, 'We have too much story. We're never going to get to the planet before the end of part two, especially if we write these scenes the way they should be written.' "Rob wrote two words back to me, which were 'three hours' – and that's what ended up happening. Obviously, we had to get on the phone and discuss it with Syfy and MGM, and as a result Air has become a two-hour premiere with a cliffhanger, and its resolution is Air Pt. 3.

Re: Official Stargate Magazine Thread
I happened to wander by the newsagency today, and found a Stargate magazine...I'd seen one in there a few months back, but had deemed it too expensive so hadn't bought it...
I was tempted to get this issue (despite it being plastered with SGugh cast), but in the end decided the internet might be cheaper...
I found the Titan magazines website, and saw that I can get issues 10-30 from them, but no earlier ones...(darn- so much for 'back issues'!)
I am now trying to talk myself out of ordering 20 issues of a magazine, sight unseen.
I'm mainly interested in nice shiny posters to stick on my walls, and lots of nice articles and photos...
Anyone care to talk me out of it? Anyone?
