So far it appears as if the Ancients never ecountered a race that was older and more advanced then they were. This means that the achievements of the Ancients were made without help from others.
Which makes a good explanantion as to why they needed 3 Million years to get to such an advanced point that they would be nearly wiped out by space underdevelopped vampires.............

the Ancients probably did not have to fight a war in millions of years, which means they lacked experience in that area. They also made the same mistake with the Wraith that the Asgard made with the replicators, they relied to much on their technological superiority.

The Asgard can't be faulted for that as they were incapable of simplistic thinking-hence why they needed the Tau'ri. The Ancients really should have toned down the Asurans aggression and try to get the Asurans onboard with fighting the Wraith at the time in order to save themselves.

The only Asgard Baggage would be the Lost Tribe but unlike the Ancients the Asgard High Council would have sorted them out. The Ancients would play the non-interference card. Non-interference is a good policy (Asgard used it) but when you refuse to solve problems that you started, then thats called denial. You can tell I have a bone to pick with the Ancients can't you. Asgard Rule Period
Yeah, i think we all have a problem with the ancients if we look hard enough! they just made too many mistakes for it to be forgivable...

It'sfunny that everyone blames the Ancients for their non-interference policy and their mistakes (probably becaus we liked them so much) but at the same time seems to have forgiven :
- Oma Dessala : she gave birth to one of the worst known villain
- Orlin : he carelessly gave a very advanced weapon to a "primitive" population and they killed themselves in the process.

(NOTE : on MGM site, you can see that they used the CG from that epiosde with Orlin to make the planet with Arcturus Device. Could this mean that Ascended people would have avoided McKay blunder and make it work?)

Not all Ancients are baggage handlers, Oma Desala-WKD person who saved Danny and fought Anubis in a Duel of Fate, Chaya Sar-she looks after here people, Orlin-saved our butts against the Ori, Moros/Myrddin/Merlin-gave us a weapon to take out the Ori and Morgan La Fey for kicking Adrias butt in a Duel of Fate
