Well it didn't help that I don't like kids And well you know how I feel about McKay and a mini McKay has less appeal than a Lobotomy
Huh, I did not know that he was in an ep of SGA
One good thing SGU has going for it.......NO BLOODY WOODS EVERY OTHER EP

I totally hear you on MiniMcKay and her maddening mentor. I couldn't believe I actually forced myself to watch that episode. Well, I did it for Sheppard's sake since he's the one main character in that episode that was worth watching.
You know, I used to be a teacher, and so naturally liking kids was kind of a prerequisite. After I left the field I left it still liking children. The irony is that now that I haven't been teaching for a long time and I have a completely different line of work (law enforcement-related), most of the people I deal with are at least 30 and over and dealing with kids now is like pulling teeth or something.
I have a close friend who has a son who just turned 13. I like socializing with her but her son has to be around almost all the time because he must absolutely have adult supervision. The problem with him is every little thing is debated and every decision questioned. The constant whining and the teenage self-centeredness has become appalling. It's gotten to the point that literally every single time I come over to visit, he'll gripe about something--
anything, really. It's been necessary for his mom (bless her heart for having to deal with him) to take an incredibly firm hand in dealing out consequences and setting good boundaries for him.
Every time the kid (and yes, I'll refer to him as the kid as long as he insists on acting like one) starts acting up, I honestly can't help but think of McKay, Harmony, and how the kid is following in their footsteps with his attitude. It's gotten to the point where I just don't want to come over to visit them. I don't mind the mom's company as she is so wonderful but the kid--ugh.

I'm very thankful I'm not in the teaching field anymore.
OK, I totally didn't expect this post to turn into venting...
