It's useless, don't you think they already know that we don't want the show to be cancelled? But they still did.
And they probably already signed it off or whatever and signed a contract for movies.
Can we have a petition or email Robert 50 billion times to renew the series?

If a contract was signed for movies, it's probably because SCIFI wants a cut of the revenue for the DVD sales. After the sales for Ark Of Truth and Continuum, the network probably wants to keep their hands on the franchise. I wouldn't be surprised if we heard the names of other executives. The movie announcement is likely meant to derail fan campaigns, namely here at GateWorld.

I would support any channel that would allow Atlantis to keep going into a season 6 and onwards. If SCI-FI wont keep it going then i think we need to jump ship. True Atlantis in my opinion isnt as great as SG1, but gambleing its future on the possibility of Stargate Universe is just plain stupid. Why not run both in parrallel like SG1/Atlantis??

I was thinking more along the lines of whatever total **** thought he could cancel atlantis and get away with it.
television is a business and Atlantis is not making the money that MGM would like so MGM decided to discontinue the show
I'm tempted not to watch SG Universe just because they cancelled a good show so it could take Atlantis's place...

All we want is one more season.
I personally think that while it is premature it is only by about a season or two.
We'll have to wait and see what the future will bring.
This sucks again, we will have to wait for movies a long time, I certainly hope Stargate Universe will start soon, hopefully with Daniel.
I doubt a petition will help.
Unfortnately, this stuff rarely works - and Jericho is a prime example of this. It got its second chance and for plenty of reasons, it didn't take it.
So studio execs can just say 'well, this is what happened when a second chance was given'. Just look at the amount of shows that bit the dust this year and despite various campaigns - got nowhere... Journeyman, Las Vegas, Moonlight-whatever.. etc..
Not trying to be overally negative, because I will miss Atlantis. Just don't see a point in wasting your time or money if it comes to it. At least, unlike some shows - we know we are getting a finale.
So have a boycott the films thread and call it a day. That's where you'll really hurt Scifi, well at the same time hurting what's left for the cast of SGA.
I don't intend to boycott the films, hardly anything towards that. I just hate SCIFI even more right now than I did two years ago.
I hated them since they single-handedly massacred the coolness that is dragons. But I don't hate them for this situation. The writing wasn't that stellar for me.
It's the above and I think their sucess with Eureka that has given them a big head.
