Hell knows where the rumour came from but if it's a dud, fair enough.
John Simm gave a radio interview the other day where he more or less dismissed the rumour. The Sun newspaper are now claiming it might be Michael Sheen (The Queen, Underworld) instead.
Hell knows where the rumour came from but if it's a dud, fair enough.
I'll happily accept these rumors and ignore the ones implying that.Spoiler:
I've heard the Master rumor too often lately, and with the show making headway in tying in the old series, it is only a matter of time until the Doctor realizes that he isn't alone. The Time War will have to be explained eventually.
The idea to bring back the Master sucks most considerably!! The Daleks and Cybermen are about as much of the classic series carrying over that I can bear. The show needs NEW villains, not old! Fresh additions to the cast such as Captain Jack Harkness are most welcome, and have done the show well so far. Even the occasional guest appearance by a former companion can be quite enjoyable. But a character such as the Master has been done and done and done.
Oh and one more thing while I'm at it, the TARDIS needs to have a bigger crew than 2. 3 is a better number, and where are the straight male companions? Whats wrong with that?
Yes. . . . . . and the Doctor's never saved the day before. That's always fresh.
Why is it that people are always so inconsitent? A particular bad-guy is "done and done and done," but you never hear them complain that the same old plot devices are used to resolve the same old plots.
I guess it depends on whether or not you (generally speaking) want to see a particular element. If you do then it's fresh, but if you don't it's boring and overly done.
They brought Sarah Jane back even though she was more than done and she was so popular she got her own spinoff. They're bringing Jack back even though he, too, has already served time as a Companion (and already has his own spinoff). Daleks and Cybermen are running amok and we've already met the Autons and a few other "done and done" classics from Who history, so why not the Master, too?
Doesn't make much difference to me, but it'd seem a little inconsistent to bring back iconic symbols like the Daleks and Cybermen and then NOT bring back the Master. JMO, of course.
Pity the John Simm thing turned out to be a rumor after all, but oh well, still plenty of good prospects out there- if indeed we're ever meant to meet the Master at all.![]()
I think a nice balance would be nice. Yes old villains are great. And I'd like to see maybe the Ice Warriors, but its also good to create new iconic villains. Hopefully the return of a baddie (who isnt Cassandra) from the S27/28 will occur. I wouldnt mind seeing Anthony Head's character returning.
True enough. Personally I'd vote for the Creepy Old Man from the finale of Torchwood to cross over and be a new baddie on Doctor Who. Or a baddie on both.
Just as long as the AU ending means we never again have to be subjected to the Tyler Family Drama, I'll be happy... unless it's replaced with a generic Companion's Family Drama. Enough with the family dramas!![]()
I suspect that we may have family dramas for some time to come. If the Doctor has no family (or friends, fellow beings, etc.), the companion's family becomes an important tool for character development.
Rose tended to grow more on the episodes when she was abroad, but she needed to go home to make the change apparent.
If the Doctor can't be compared to his brother, boss, fellow time lord, etc., we'll see more family. I also have the last issue of the Doctor Who Monthly. The new companion has 3-4 family members if the casting rumors are correct.
Personally, I want the Master back in order to see another time lord in action.
i want the master to come back to i just hope they would find the right person to play him. Roger Delgado was great as the master and anthony ainley well lets say was not so great.
Ainley was a great Master as seen in Logopolis, Castrovalva, Planet of Fire and Survival. He was just forced to Pantomime it up by JNT!!!
It is after all a matter of time before the Master returns. He is after all the Doctors Ultimate foe.
Another rumour is that...
Spoiler:
He did cross my mind, and that would be very cool, if true- even better than Simm.Still, having him in ANY role is gonna rock.
Ahhh Derek Jacobi. I could definatly playing an older more sophisticated master. He is in an episode of Randal and Hopkirk deceased where he plays a character who is actually dead but is taking a special Drug to keep himself barely alive. Very Reminiscient of the emaciated master in The Deadly Assasin and The Keeper of Traken.
There've been a lot of people claiming to have been around the filming locations for the last 2 episodes recently (most of which with photos of varying quality) with a great number of them claiming John Simm was indeed on set and playing the role of Saxon. No news on if he's the Master though.
... I'm still hoping Billis turns out to be the Master...
...Saxon? So it's confirmed to be the season 3 theme?
Looks like. Big honkin signs on set saying "Vote Saxon" and "Saxon is your man"
I think Jack Black would make a good Master.
oh dear! Jack Black as The Master? All I can think of is another 'school' episode about a school called "School of Rock"![]()
