Okay, I had a few hours but nothing to do, so I watched New Order again. When Daniel and Dr. Weir are called to the control room where they get a message from the system lords, you can see the computer screen showing the message in Goa'uld twice. I juggled a little bit with the symbols (yes, again I was really bored), and just like the Ancient alphabet, there is a meaning behind those symbols (see attachment). I don't know whether these symbols are used in other episodes as well or whether they were just made up for Season 8, but we'll probably see.
The computer screen says (including misspellings):
THE CONSTITUTION TO THE REVO
LUTION WAS VIRRTUALLY ENDLESS
ROSES ARE RED* VIOLETS ARE
BLUE ONE BEER TWO BEER I LOVE YOU
THIS IS HOW THE WHELLS AR THE BUS
GO ROUND AND ROUND ROUND A
ROUND AND THE SYSTEM LORSDS
WANT TO HAVE SOME KIND O *MM
MEETING IN WHICH THEY WILL TAKE
THEIR PHASER GUNS AND BLOW ALL
[can't read the last line]
Unfortunately, I can't take screenshots, so I drew the hieroglyphs as best as I could:

I'd like to see a clearer picture of those glyphs so I can make a font.![]()
That's likely just because F and J are more common than Q, X, and Z. The extra letters we have seem to be mistakes, maybe typos. Assuming it was typed on a QWERTY keyboard, the unknown letter that follows "red" is probably an F, but maybe an X. The other, then, is almost definitely a J, if this is the case. But we can't assume anything at this point.Originally Posted by Markey2

That's great. I hope we get to see some more gou'ald writing like that
Oooh....did you check 'Nightwalkers'?
This is really funny, but just so depressing for me...
I really was hoping all these Ancient and Goa'uld languages would be something other than just encoded English. Even just a jumble that we couldn't ever understand would be sufficient enough to suspend my disbelief. But now evey time I look at one of these languages, I know that it's still English... At least the Star Wars Aurebesh (English) language had a good excuse for being like that, because it was the "Basic" language that the whole galaxy used to communicate.
And I was just about to come out with a cool theory that maybe the four ancient races together adopted one language that they could use to communicate with each other, and that just happened to be English. Thus providing an excuse for why Pegasus galaxy inhabitants and other various alien races still speak it. Maybe they even somehow influenced the development of English on Earth. It could have helped explain the Atlantis "English" and the Adgard "English", but now this joke message just kind of destroys all that...
Oh, well...![]()
Not all languages have all the same letters as the english alphabet.
Very funny though. I laughed really hard.![]()
LOL. That's just hilarious.(Maybe that's the way the poem really goes.) Or should.
you get really bored don't you Germany can't be that bad lol.Originally Posted by sgeureka

I've found the rest of the Goa'uld alphabet. Actually, I was looking at some Egyptian fonts, when I found one that contained the glyphs in exactly the same positions as they were on your chart. The font can be found here. It's the last one on the page.
Attached is a chart with this font. It may be the very font used in SG-1.
Well, that was simple.
Darn, the two hieroglyph tables I found at home (I didn't check online) bore no resemblence to the Goa'uld message (except for maybe 4 hieroglyphs, with much fantasy involved).Originally Posted by WurdBendur
But what you've got is exactly what showed up on screen, so you can do your font now, right?
EDIT: Oh, they already have the font on this site. But it doesn't work for me.![]()

Yes (this morning), but they used another set of hieroglyphs there (see attachment).Originally Posted by Mio
There is also a Goa'uld message in Heroes Part 1. I won't get my S7 DVDs back before Sunday, and the old download file is of too poor quality, so I can't tell what's up with those hieroglyphs.
I don't know why it wasn't working yesterday, but I can take screenshots, so I put part of the New Order message (from BLUE ONE BEER to MEETING ...) in the attachment, too. (The hieroglyphs of the complete message were too tiny, so I don't bother posting them).

The first one seems to have an entirely different set of Hieroglyphs.
I've converted the font so Windows users can use it. Keep in mind, though, I didn't make it. I'm just offering the converted version.
Interesting
So, to sum this up, the hieroglyphs we see in "New Order" are little more than a mistake. They downloaded a real Egyptian font, and used it to type English. The result is readable, but as far as the actual hieroglyphs are concerned, it's just nonsense. Other hieroglyphs we've seen ("In the Serpent's Lair" and others) seem to be written more like the real thing, though the hieroglyphs themselves are slightly different. Based on these examples, I think Goa'uld is supposed to be written with real Egyptian hieroglyphs, with the writing we've seen being merely decorative.
Some of the hieroglyphs in "Nightwalkers" look more like Sumerian cuneiform. I don't know what's going on with that.
WOW! SGEureka you've done it again
Now I have to learn Goa'uld aswell!!
No, don’t learn Goa'uld, because it’s too hard and I don’t want anyone to be better than me, just keep ancient lol. Also, is Nox and Furling based on any languages? And if they are do you have the font? Because I need these two for a project I’m doing in my room.
